ANAHEIM, Calif. beats by dre uk . -- Jesus Montero put a slight dent in Jered Weavers nifty numbers. Montero homered twice off the major league ERA leader and Jason Vargas outpitched his former college teammate to send the Seattle Mariners past the Los Angeles Angels 4-1 Sunday. "Weaver throws across his body and he makes good pitches, so its not easy to face him," Montero said. "You just have to wait for the ball and think middle, middle all the time. That was my approach today." This was the first time Weaver gave up two home runs in a game to the same player since Oct. 1, 2010, when the Rangers Mitch Moreland hit a pair of solo shots off him in Texas. Weaver (15-2) had won nine straight outings before losing to his teammate from Long Beach State. Weaver fell one shy of Chuck Finleys 1997 franchise record for consecutive starts won. "I thought I threw the ball real well, but obviously a couple of mistakes cost me," Weaver said. "I made bad pitches and Montero put them were he was supposed to. I was just trying to stay away from him for the most part. Hes one of those guys who has my number today, so Ill try to pitch him differently next time," he said. Vargas (13-8) allowed a run and seven hits over 8 1-3 innings. The left-hander gave up a one-out triple in the ninth by Howie Kendrick before Tom Wilhelmsen came in and got the final two outs for his 16th save in 18 chances. Weaver was 6-0 with a 2.23 ERA and 26 strikeouts in six starts during July, but Vargas beat him out for AL pitcher of the month honours with a 5-0 record, a 1.64 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his six starts. "I knew he had great stuff, but hes a completely different pitcher now than when he was at Long Beach," Weaver said. "Back then he was a 93-94 (mph) guy, but as we all know, that stuff doesnt last forever, so youve got to figure out our to pitch. And hes done a heck of a job of doing that." Weaver and Vargas, both of whom were drafted in 2004, started against each other two other times in the majors -- both last season. Vargas won the first matchup 3-0 at Seattle, and neither pitcher got a decision the second time around as the Angels won 1-0 in 10 innings. "Ive pitched pretty well in those games and so has he," Vargas said. "Today I threw my changeup for strikes early in the game, then just below the strike zone later. And when the hitters fell behind, they were a little more willing to chase that pitch. They were set up for a big inning a couple of times, but I got out of it with the help of our defence." Montero hit a solo homer in the second that landed barely beyond the fence and just over the glove of centre fielder Mike Trout, who robbed Miguel Olivo of a homer in the Mariners 7-4 win Saturday night. It was Seattles only hit until the sixth, when John Jaso singled with two out and Montero sent a drive into the lower seats in the left-field corner for his 12th home run. It was the second multihomer game in the majors for the former Yankees catcher, who hit two against Baltimores Jim Johnson last Sept. 5 at New York in just his fourth big league contest. Weaver was charged with three runs, four hits and three walks in seven innings and struck out five. It was only the second time in the right-handers last 13 outings that he gave up more than two earned runs. His ERA increased from 2.13 to 2.22. Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher was ejected by plate umpire Mike Estabrook just three batters into the game for complaining too loudly from the dugout about a second straight borderline pitch by Weaver that was called a ball -- resulting in a walk to Kyle Seager. The ejection was Butchers fourth in the big leagues and first since April 28, 2008. Former Angel Chone Figgins, who singled as a pinch-hitter for Mike Carp in the sixth inning, drove in Seattles final run with a ninth-inning triple against Ernesto Frieri. NOTES: Vargas has allowed one home run over his last five starts, after giving up at least one in each of his previous 12 -- including five on June 20 in a 14-10 loss at Arizona. ... The Mariners finished their road trip 3-6, after winning the final seven games of their previous homestand against Kansas City and Toronto. ... Weaver walked more than two batters for only the fourth time this season. Dr Dre Beats uk . He made the call himself to go for it, and just barely pulled it off. Posey also produced a second straight three-hit game, Madison Bumgarner backed up his nice, new contract with a second consecutive win, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 on Tuesday night. cheap beats by dre . LOUIS -- Carlos Beltran appears to be getting his stroke back. [url=http://www.beatsbydreukonlinestore.co.uk/]cheap beats by dre uk . After dropping four straight games on the road, the Bombers finally got back in front of a wildly enthusiastic home crowd and fed off the energy to register their first win. Beats By Dre Studio . Pepe collided with teammate Iker Casillas in the 42nd minute when both tried to reach a cross in Madrids area that led to Valencias goal. The two players remained prone on the pitch for a few moments. Pepe was replaced by Raul Albiol at halftime and sent to the hospital afterward.TORONTO -- Toronto FCs chances of getting its first Major League Soccer win in over two months have taken a big hit. The Reds will be without Eric Hassli as they try to pull another upset against the Los Angeles Galaxy this evening (TSN, 10:30pm et/7:30pm pt). The teams have not played since Toronto upset the Galaxy 3-2 on aggregate in the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals in March. But Torontos chances for a repeat took a blow when Hassli was ruled out of the match at Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., because of a right ankle injury sustained late in last Saturdays 1-1 draw with the Philadelphia Union at BMO Field. It was not good news for a team that is trying for its first MLS victory since defeating the Colorado Rapids on July 18. The 31-year-old French striker had a magnetic resonance imaging procedure on Wednesday. "It didnt look very good," TFC head coach Paul Mariner said after training on Thursday afternoon before the club departed for Los Angeles. "The specialist is going to have a look at it today, hes going to have a CT scan on it, so he is obviously out for the weekend." Mariner said Hassli also was "extremely doubtful" for Tuesdays CONCACAF Champions League group stage match in El Salvador against CD Aguila on Tuesday. TFC defeated Aguila 5-1 at BMO Field on Aug. 1 and need goals after losing 3-1 to Mexicos Santos Laguna at BMO Field on Aug. 28. "Its a massive blow for us," Mariner said of Hasslis injury. "Its just one of those things, it was a bad tackle from out viewpoint and we lose one of our star players which is unfortunate for us." Mariner did not reveal his plans for replacing Hassli, but pairing Ryan Johnson and Luis Silva up front is a strong possibility. It could also mean a bigger role for forward Quincy Amarikwa, who was obtained in a trade with the New York Red Bulls on July 21. Amarikwas speed can be used to stretch opposition defences. "Quincy has come on and done extremely well," Mariner said earlier in the week. "He holds the ball up well. He runs the channels very well. We have a couple of options." It has been a difficult season for Torontos designated players with midfielder Torsten Frings (hip) and striker Danny Koevermans (knee) out with season-ending surgeries and midfielder Julian de Guzman being shipped to FC Dallas. The Galaxy are coming off a 0-0 draw against the Puerto Rico Islanders on Wednesday in a CCL group match. Sean Franklin, Omar Gonzalez, Robbie Keane, Mike Magee and Josh Saunders did not travel to Puerto Rico to be rested for the game against Toronto. David Beckham was held back with an ankle injury. Buut Toronto will face a more daunting Galaxy side with Keane, Beckham and Landon Donovan likely in the fold. Beats by Dre. Mariner said his team should be eager to play the Galaxy. "We were saying the other day in the coaches that these are the games you want to play in a player," Mariner said. "L.A. are really playing well. David will back. Landon will definitely be playing again. Robbie will be leading the lineup. Theyve got some very good players." Forward Andrew Wiedeman said TFCs desperation for a win could trump the Galaxys star power. "Its L.A., theyve got the big names," Wiedeman said. "But I think what gives us a charge is not having won in two months. In practice this week everyones bodys definitely been amped up. Its very competitive out here and I think its showing." Toronto has six losses and three draws in MLS since defeating Colorado. "Were hungry for a win," Wiedeman said. "So I think thats probably the big thing that is going to provide the extra charge, not necessarily that were going in and playing these big names. Theyre a great team, theyre one of the best teams in the league so its kind of a measuring stick for a club. If we can go in and do well against them it would definitely be a good result. But its more than that." Regardless of their respective standings in the league, the teams have played four consecutive draws in MLS matches, three of them 0-0 and the other was 2-2 on June 11, 2011, at Carson. In the CCL the teams tied 2-2 at a sold-out Rogers Centre on March 7 and Toronto defeated the Galaxy 2-1 on March 14 to advance to the semifinals, where they were eliminated by Santos Laguna in April. Since then the teams have travelled different paths. Both started their MLS seasons slowly but the Galaxy have recovered. Toronto is last in the Eastern Conference (5-17-7) while the Galaxy (14-11-4) are third in the Western Conference on goal differential although tied at 46 points with Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy have three consecutive 2-0 wins in MLS and are 6-1-1 in their past eight league games. Notes: Left full back Ashtone Morgan will be available for the game against the Galaxy after serving his suspension for yellow card accumulation on last Saturday. ...After Tuesdays game in El Salvador , Toronto will visit the New York Red Bulls for a game next Saturday. ...The Galaxy have five consecutive shutouts in all competitions and have not conceded a goal since the 87th minute of the 5-2 win over Isidro Metapan of El Salvador Aug. 23 in a CCL group match. Since that goal, the Galaxy have played 453 minutes without allowing one while scoring 11. ' ' '
