(Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays turn to Kyle Drabek, looking to avoid a three-game sweep against the Texas Rangers in Arlington Sunday afternoon. . The Rangers have one of the deadliest lineups in baseball, and if Saturday taught us anything it is that it is impossible to ever count them out of a game. After giving up a pair of runs in the top of the 13th inning, the Rangers came back in the bottom of the frame with a resounding response, collecting three straight hits, capped off by a Josh Hamilton walk-off two-run home run to claim the 8-7 victory. "That was huge," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "We certainly needed it. We didnt deserve to lose that ballgame, because we put ourselves in position quite a few times." The homer was Hamiltons 20th of the year and his three RBI raised his total to 53, both tops in the majors. Yoshinori Tateyama (1-0) made just one out, relieving Robbie Ross in the 13th after Ross gave up two unearned runs, but it was enough to earn the win. Jason Frasor (0-1) was credited with the loss as he came in specifically to pitch to Hamilton after Ryota Igarashi allowed Kinsler and Andrus to reach base. Yunel Escobar, Jose Bautista, Brett Lawrie, and David Cooper each had two hits for the Blue Jays. After losing four consecutive starts from April 25-May 11, Drabek has recovered with back-to-back wins to pull his record to 4-4 on the season. Drabek shut down the Yankees on May 16 by allowing three hits and one earned run in seven innings of work. He followed that up with another fine performance against Tampa Bay last Monday, going six innings and allowing two earned runs. "He created some jams for himself, but found a way to make a big pitch to get out of an inning," Toronto manager John Farrell said of Drabeks last start. "When he was in the strike zone he was powerful, he had good late action and they werent squaring him up." Though Drabeks recent success has lowered his ERA to an impressive 3.27, his control has been an issue, as he has issued 34 walks in 52 1/3 innings this season. The Rangers will counter with their rookie sensation Yu Darvish, who has been as advertised so far with a 6-2 record and a 3.05 ERA. Hes also tied for fifth in the American League in strikeouts with 63. After winning five of his previous six starts, Darvish struggled against the Mariners on Monday night, allowing four hits, six walks, and four earned runs in four innings of work, his shortest outing of his major league career. Darvish faced the Blue Jays in Toronto back on April 30, putting together one of his most impressive lines of the year (7 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, 9 K). "It really helped with my conditioning," said Johnny Boychuk, who played in Austria and returned to score a goal in the Bruins 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers in the lockout-delayed opener Saturday night. . Good thing, since the Mariners relievers did their best to try and blow a shot at Seattles first four-game sweep at home in more than a decade. Hernandez shook off a line drive to his left wrist and threw seven strong innings, and the Mariners overcame bullpen problems to beat the Kansas City Royals 7-6 Sunday for a four-game sweep. Dawkins scored all 21 of his points on seven first-half treys, helping No. 4 Duke pile up a big lead and roll past Wake Forest, 91-73, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Dawkins made his trip around the perimeter look easy, burying long distance shots from seemingly every spot on the floor, smiling all of the way back to the defensive end after his seventh triple. . Then it got better. Phillips caught the ceremonial first pitch thrown by Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, then collected three hits to lead the Cincinnati Reds to an 8-2 victory over the St.CLEVELAND -- Jeanmar Gomez had faith in his fastball and slider -- along with complete confidence in Clevelands defence. Gomez, aided by two early plays from first baseman Casey Kotchman, pitched three-hit ball into the seventh inning and Asdrubal Cabrera homered to lead the Indians past the Miami Marlins 2-0 Saturday. "Another well-pitched game by both sides," Indians manager Manny Acta said. Miami put two runners on base in an inning only once against Gomez (3-2), who struck out four over 6 1-3 innings. Cabrera connected off Anibal Sanchez (2-2) to put Cleveland ahead in the fourth inning. Three relievers finished off the Indians third shutout of the season. Chris Perez struck out the side on 10 pitches in the ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances. All three Marlins looked at strike three. "We were looking for a walk to make sure the tying run got to the plate," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said with a laugh. Perez was just as pithy. "Im tired of getting booed at home, so I figured Id throw strikes today," said the right-hander, who blew a save in the season opener and entered with a 6.48 ERA at Progressive Field. He has not yielded a run in eight road outings. Miami dropped to 13-5 in May, while Cleveland earned its fifth win in six games as Gomezs performance extended a string of strong outings by the Indians rotation. Cleveland starters have worked six or more innings in 20 of the last 23 games, logging more innings than any other starting staff since April 27. Gomez walked two and was in trouble only once, when Miami had runners on first and third with two outs in the third. He got Hanley Ramirez to fly out to right to end the threat. "He made good pitches when had to, had very good life on his two-seam fastball and a swing-and-miss slider," Acta said. The 24-year-old right-hander also got immediate help from Kotchman, who made a diving stop of a hard-hit ball by Jose Reyes leading off the game, then finished the first inning with another sprawling catch of a shot off the bat of Greg Dobbs. "Caseys defence was the key," Acta said. "If Reyes gets on it is a double, or a single and he steals and creates havoc on the bases." Gomez has made two straight strong starts after being tagged for a season-high eight runs in 6 2-3 innings by the Chicago White Sox on May 9. He gave up one unearned run and three hits in a no-decision Monday against Minnesota before shutting down the Marlins in his first career interleaggue appearance. [url=http://www.falconsofficialteamstore.com/autographed-harry-douglas-jersey-wu... Douglas Jersey. "Casey was great over there on defence," Gomez said. "I was working down and away to get ground balls and the defence made the plays." Joe Smith replaced Gomez with a runner on first and one out in the seventh and got Gaby Sanchez to ground into a double play. Vinnie Pestano pitched a perfect eighth, striking out one. "The bullpen just took over," Acta said. "Pestano and Perez threw as well as Ive seen them." Perez said he was especially happy to save a win for Gomez, who saw relievers turn a 4-1 lead into a tie game before Cleveland rallied to beat the Twins 5-4 five days ago. "We blew his last start and we dont forget that in the bullpen," Perez said. Sanchez lost his second straight start as the Marlins were shut out for the fifth time. The right-hander yielded seven hits and two runs over eight innings and continued to be plagued by a lack of offensive support. The Marlins have scored only 14 runs while Sanchez has been on the mound, an average of 1.75 in his eight starts. "He might not talk to his teammates," Guillen joked. Sanchez wasnt bitter, however. "I never have complained about it," Sanchez said. "I need to keep working keep the score close. I know (my teammates) want to do everything they can. Thats baseball." Cabrera broke a scoreless duel by hitting his fifth homer on an 0-2 pitch to lead off the fourth. Cleveland made it 2-0 in the fifth when Shelley Duncan reached on an infield single and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Jason Kipnis. NOTES: Marlins OF Emilio Bonifacios consecutive game streak was broken at 112. He sat out with a sprained left thumb, sustained Friday night. ... Indians GM Chris Antonetti believes Cleveland has yet to play its best despite leading the AL Central. He cited injuries to LHP Rafael Perez, RHP Josh Tomlin and OF Grady Sizemore, ace RHP Ubaldo Jimenezs inconsistent pitching and slow starts at the plate by 1B Casey Kotchman (.211) and OFs Johnny Damon (.167) and Shelley Duncan (.202) among areas that could clear up and give the team a boost. ... Retired Indians bench coach Tim Tolman is back in that capacity for two games, filling in for Sandy Alomar Jr., who is attending daughter Leannas graduation from San Diego State. ... Pestano has at least one strikeout in 21 straight appearances, tying Paul Shueys team record for relievers set Aug. 20, 1999, to April 10, 2000. ' ' '
