(Sports Network) - A Game 1 win by the Miami Heat over Indiana in the Eastern Conference semifinals has morphed into concern over an abdominal injury to star big man Chris Bosh. Bosh, who scored 13 points before suffering the injury shortly before halftime of the Heats 95-86 victory on Sunday, is out indefinitely after an MRI on Monday confirmed a strained lower abdominal muscle. Watch tonights game live on TSN2 at 7pm et/4pm pt. Miami was able to persevere without its top interior presence thanks in large part to newly-minted NBA MVP LeBron James, who had 32 points, 15 rebounds and five assists as the Heat grinded out the Game 1 victory, The contest was deadlocked after three quarters, but Miami opened the fourth with an 8-2 run and never relinquished the lead after that. Dwyane Wade added 29 points for the second-seeded Heat, who defeated the Knicks in five games to advance to the second round. They have won 13 straight playoff home games versus Eastern Conference opponents. David West and Roy Hibbert both recorded a double-double for the Pacers, who also won their opening series in five games, downing the Dwight Howard-less Magic to reach the second round for the first time since 2005. West had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Hibbert had 17 and 11. Danny Granger, typically Indianas top offensive threat, was held scoreless in the first half for the first time since April 10, 2007 and finished with just seven points on 1-of-10 shooting. "Were not going to change," said West. "We didnt play a good enough game tonight as a group to compete with these guys. We can play a lot better than we did." James, who on Saturday won his third MVP award in the last four seasons, scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and continuously got to the basket or the foul line down the stretch. The Pacers kept it close, cutting the deficit to 86-85 on George Hills three-pointer with five minutes remaining but James responded with four straight points. He went 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final frame and buried a pullup jumper inside the final minute to put the game away. "He made MVP plays on both ends of the court," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said when talking about his superstar. "The rebounding, defending (West), but also creating a lot of offense for us. Particularly in the fourth quarter when we needed some relief." As for Game 2, Spoelstra wouldnt say who will start in Boshs place or how long he expects his big man to sit. "Were not even going to speculate," the Miami mentor said. "We just have to see day to day. There absolutely isnt a timetable right now. He was in today doing treatment." Bosh, however, essentially ruled himself out of the semifinals. "This season has to be extended for me to play again," he said. "So thats whats on my mind. " James, meanwhile, compared the Heat losing Bosh to Chicagos injury troubles. The top-seeded Bulls lost both Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah and lost to the No. 8 Sixers. "Its going to be a challenge for us. Were missing the biggest part of our team, probably the biggest part of our team," said the MVP. "Nobody feels sorry for the Bulls losing (Derrick Rose) or Joakim Noah getting hurt. Nobody feels sorry for you and we dont want anybody feeling sorry for us. We look forward to the challenge. And well be ready." Ronny Turiaf started the second half of Game 1 in Boshs absence but Joel Anthony or sliding Udonis Haslem over from power forward are also options for Spoelstra. Turiaf plays with energy and offers the opportunity to keep the rest of his rotation intact but he is tremendously undersized against Hibbert. "It changes their team, but weve got to understand it doesnt allow you to play 5-on-4," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. "They have got great players they can fill in for him. Obviously, not having to worry about Bosh helps because hes such a terrific player." Miami won three of the four from Indiana in the regular season. The only other playoff meeting between the Pacers and Heat came in 2004 in the East semifinals with Indiana winning in six games. Game 3 of the series will be in Indianapolis on Thursday. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tampa Bays offence has sputtered at times this season. For some reason, though, the Rays havent had any problems figuring out All-Star Matt Harrison. Evan Longoria homered twice, Tampa Bay roughed up Harrison and the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 8-4 Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak. The Rays are the lowest-scoring team in the American League and have lost four 1-0 games since Aug. 5 -- including one Tuesday night. But Tampa Bay found its stride against Harrison, who was coming off one of the best starts of his career. "Our hitters have a decent history against him," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "I think its one of those things where our guys see him pretty well. And perhaps he doesnt see them that well." Harrison (15-8) allowed seven runs and 12 hits in 5 1-3 innings. The Rays have scored 14 runs with 26 hits in two starts against Harrison, who was looking to tie for the league lead in wins. "We knew we had to jump out fast," said B.J. Upton, who hit a three-run homer in the second that put the Rays on top 6-0. "We did that and kind of kept our foot down after that." After dropping the last two against the AL West-leading Rangers by one run, the Rays avoided the three-game sweep. Tampa Bay had scored only 11 runs during their losing skid before breaking out for 16 hits against Texas. Longoria hit a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the ninth. Elliot Johnson added a solo blast in the sixth. Jeff Keppinger went 4 for 5 and Ben Zobrist had three hits for the Rays. Jake McGee (5-2) pitched a perfect sixth and five Tampa Bay relievers combined for 4 1-3 scoreless innings. Since July 19, the Rays bullpen has posted a 0.76 ERA in 106 innings. "Our pen was great once again," Maddon said. "Thats who we are." Josh Hamilton hit his 36th home run for Texas, a solo shot that brought Texas to 6-4 in the fifth. The Rangers wrapped up a 7-3 homestand and have a 4 1/2-gamme lead over Oakland in the AL West.dddddddddddd "If we can continue to win series, well be right where we want to be," Texas manager Ron Washington said. Harrison gave up seven runs and a career-high 14 hits in an 8-4 loss to the Rays on April 27. The left-hander struggled again against Tampa Bay on Wednesday night, giving up six runs and a pair of home runs by the second inning. He took a no-hitter into the seventh and permitted two hits in eight shutout innings in his last outing Friday night against Minnesota. "I put us in a big hole early in the game," Harrison said. "I didnt give us a chance" Zobrists RBI double in the first snapped a 13-inning scoreless drought. Longoria drove a 3-1 fastball from Harrison 409 feet to centre. The two-run shot extended Tampa Bays lead to 3-0. Longoria is 6 for 9 with three home runs against Harrison in the regular season. In the second inning, Sam Fuld tripled with one out and Desmond Jennings walked to set the stage for Upton. After Texas pitching coach Mike Maddux visited Harrison, Upton lined a fastball into the seats in left for his 16th home run of the season. Johnson led off the sixth with a home run and Harrison was chased out of the game two batters later. It was the first time Harrison allowed three home runs in a game since April 21, 2010 against Boston. Texas Mitch Moreland hit a two-run homer in the second, his 15th of the season. Nelson Cruzs RBI groundout got the Rangers to within 6-3. Hamiltons 424-foot shot landed in the upper deck in right and gave him 112 RBIs, which leads the majors. Rays starter Alex Cobb allowed eight hits and four runs in 4 2-3 innings. Notes: Tampa Bay OF Matt Joyce, who left Tuesdays nights game with a strained left forearm, was not in the lineup. Maddon said Joyce might be available Thursday night at Toronto. ... Cruz was in the lineup after being hit in the left elbow Tuesday night. ... The Rays are 15-7 since Longoria came off the disabled list Aug. 7. ' ' '
