"We can definitely go lower than 37 seconds," Powell said. "We are running against the clock, we are not focusing on anyone, we know we have the team to do something special.” Jamaica does have the components to pull off the historic run. Bolt is the world record holder in the 100m. Yohan Blake has run the fastest 100m time in the world this year at 9.75 seconds, while Powell has over 80 sub-10s runs in his career, with a personal-best 9.72s. The three have yet to combine forces together in a 4x100m relay at any event. Nesta Carter and Michael Frater —who were members of both the gold medal team at Beijing 2008 and the world record team at the 2011 Worlds—will take the final spot on the four-man unit. "We have 36 seconds in mind, but we have to get the stick around, and once we get it around we can definitely break the record," Powell said. "We have been working really hard, there is still quite a few work to be done with the guys on the relay and once we sort that out I think we can take a shot at that world record."
