The three-time Pro Bowl player sat out most of the week with shoulder and knee problems. He practiced on a limited basis Friday. Rivera says hell see how Beason recovers from practice before deciding at game time if hell suit up. If Beason cant play, Jason Phillips will start for Carolina (1-2). Defensive end Antwan Applewhite is doubtful for the game because of an ailing knee. Rivera says he has improved and will travel with the team to Atlanta. Often overlooked on a staff that includes Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee, Kendrick has been a huge reason why the Phillies (70-71) are making a late push to get into the NL wild-card race.
