Hunter Shinkaruk scored twice and set up two more Saturday as the Medicine Hat Tigers downed the visiting Regina Pats 5-4 the Western Hockey League. The 18-year-old winger has three goals and nine points in his last two outings and 23 total points in 14 games, good for a tie for fifth in WHL scoring. Dylan Busenius had a goal and two assists for the Tigers (7-8-1), who picked up their third straight victory, while Curtis Valk and Elgin Pierce chipped in with two assists apiece. Trevor Cox and Dylan Bredo each scored once to round out Medicine Hats offence. Morgan Klimchuk led the Pats (6-9-1) offensively with two goals and an assist as Colton Jobke and Dyson Stevenson each had a goal and an assist. Cam Lanigan made 21 saves for the win, while Matt Hewitt stopped 29 shots in a losing effort. Medicine Hat went 2-for-5 on the power play. Regina went 2-for-3. Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Edmonton 5, Kelowna 3; Lethbridge 4, Swift Current 1; Prince Albert 5, Moose Jaw 1; Red Deer 4, Calgary 3 (SO); Kamloops 5, Victoria 2; Prince George 3, Brandon 2 (SO); Seattle 3, Everett 2; and Spokane 3, Tri-City 2. At Medicine Hat, Alta., Stevenson opened the scoring 1:20 into the first period, however Shinkaruk responded at 17:50 to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes of play. Busenius scored a power-play goal at 5:11 of the second period to give Medicine Hat its first lead of the game, but Klimchuk scored six minutes later to make it 2-2 heading into the final period. Shinkaruk and Klimchuk both scored on the power play less than two minutes into the third period. Bredo made it 4-3 for the Tigers at 4:38 and Cox added another goal at 17:30 to give Medicine Hat its first two-goal lead of the game. Jobke added a goal for Regina with just one second remaining on the clock.
