MIAMI -- Chris Capuano was well aware he was working on a no-hit bid, thanks to a fan who constantly gave him updates. Capuano held Miami hitless until the seventh inning and Hanley Ramirez drove in three runs against his former team, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Marlins 5-0 Sunday. "I started thinking about it a little bit probably after the fifth, sixth," Capuano said. "I had a nice heckler today when I was in the on-deck circle that kept reminding me. I actually turned to him and said, Yeah, I know." Capuano (11-8) shut down the Marlins until Jose Reyes lined a clean single to centre field with one out in the seventh. "Joses got a quick bat. I left one over the middle and he smoked it," Capuano said. Capuano allowed two hits in eight innings, striking out nine. The 33-year-old lefty had lost his last three starts with a 6.75 ERA in that span. "Hes tough and hes tough for a younger club," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Theyve got some older guys, but theyve got some younger guys that he can really pull the string and rock you back and forth, hard, soft, hard, soft. Thats tough for young hitters." Ramirez, acquired in a trade with the Marlins on July 25, hit a sacrifice fly in the third. He added a two-run single in eighth, giving him 500 career RBIs. "His swing is great and if he just takes his hits, hes going to drive in a ton of runs, but hes going to hit more home runs too," Mattingly said. "Hanley can hit. He sees the ball early. Hes a talented cat." Ramirez went 6 for 13 with five RBIs in his first series against his former club. He was booed before each at-bat. "Only my first at-bat (was emotional)," Ramirez said. "After that everything was back to normal. I was trying to do my job." The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead into the eighth, and Heath Bell relieved Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc (1-2). After getting one out, Bell allowed four straight hits, including the single by Ramirez and an RBI single by Andre Ethier. Luis Cruz added an RBI double off Chris Hatcher to push the Dodgers lead to 5-0. "The game went from a very good game to very bad game in one inning," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. Capuano allowed a bloop single by Nick Green in the eighth before Jamey Wright came on to pitch a perfect ninth. Capuano threw 69 of 102 pitches for strikes. "Hes got an unbelievable changeup and when he throws that fastball at 88, it looks like 100," said Reyes, who played with Capuano last season with the New York Mets. LeBlanc pitched a season-high seven innings, allowing one run and six hits. NOTES: Matt Treanor was the Dodgers catcher. MILAN, Italy -- Defending champion Juventus extended its unbeaten in Serie A streak to 48 games following a contentious 1-0 win at 10-man Catania on Sunday in which the Sicilian side had a goal disallowed. Catania thought it had taken a first-half lead through Gonzalo Bergessio but the strike was ruled out after almost a minute of deliberation. The reason for the disallowed goal was not immediately clear -- either offside or for a handling offence. In the aftermath of the decision, Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti was banished from the bench and in the ensuing five minutes five of its players were booked as tension between the sides rose. To add insult to injury, Nicklas Bendtner appeared in an offside position in the buildup to Arturo Vidals second-half goal for the Serie A leader. Giovanni Marchese was sent off in the 67th minute after receiving his second booking to cap a miserable day for Catania. Bookmaker Paddy Power has paid out to those who placed a bet on a Catania victory, calling it a Justice Payout. It says "sometimes a result is so unfair that, quite simply, its right to pay out." Pulvirenti, who said the referee apologized to him, was still visibly irate after the match. "Its not only that our goal was disallowed, but Juves goal was offside," Pulvirenti fumed. "Its the third time decisions have gone against us after the matches against Parma and Inter. An offside goal for them and a good goal which wasnt given to us ... Whats most absurd is that the goal was ruled out by the Juventus bench, the linesman had given the goal. "The goal was ruled out only after Juves protests. Its a scandal, a disgrace. They gave our goal and then ruled it out after the protests. Mistakes can happen, but decisions cant be changed after protests from the bench. I want explanations." The stadium rocked with chants of "thieves, thieves" from the disgruntled Catania fans at the end of the match. "On the pitch we didnt see much," Juventus assistant manager Angelo Alessio said. "The linesman lifted his flag, then I dont know what happened. No, the Juventus bench didnt do anything. The linesman was talking to the official and he made the decision. Some of our players who were closer to the incident went to the officials. A mistake can happen and its a shame, but we played our game and wasted several scoring opportunities. "We took control from start to finish and dominated with 11 shots on goal ... There was only one team on the field -- Juventus -- and Catania defended well. An incident can happen, we should all just move on." Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon kept another clean sheet on his 5500th Serie A appearance.dddddddddddd With Claudio Marchisio and Lucio injured, Paul Pogba and Bendtner made their first Serie A starts. Catania hadnt won this fixture since 1964 but it put the pressure on Juventus. Nicolas Spollis header clipped Francesco Lodi and came off the post, and Bergessio was on hand to smash in the rebound. Catania players were still celebrating when the referee disallowed the goal after consulting with his assistant. Juventus took the lead in the 57th minute when Bendtner, who appeared to be offside, had his effort parried by Andujar but Vidal was on hand to follow up. Napoli remains in second place, three points behind Juventus after Marek Hamsiks strike handed it a 1-0 win against Chievo Verona. Chievos Kamil Vacek was dismissed in the 78th. Stefano Mauri thought he had headed Lazio level but it was ruled out for offside.
