The most intense flare-up occurred towards the end of the game, however, when Ross and Guiao exchanged words near the NLEX bench. Both were whistled for technical fouls; it was Ross' second of the game and he was subsequently ejected.
Guiao was accused of uttering a racist remark and was clearly shown displaying his middle finger.In a statement, the PBA announced that "the alleged racist remark attributed to Coach Guiao could not be established."
Guiao has already denied the allegation, and Ross has said that he does not want to discuss the issue anymore.
Nevertheless, both parties still merited fines for the roles they played in the incident that occurred with just 1:46 left to play. Guiao was fined P11,000 "for obscene gesture, use of profane language, and engaging in a verbal altercation." Ross was fined P2,600 for incurring two technical fouls.
