WEST NEW YORK -- Residents of a 10-unit apartment building in West New York were left homeless after a three-alarm fire started in a ground-floor convenience store and raced to the roof last night.

When firefighters arrived at the 4-story building at 6100 Jefferson St. alarm they found flames and smoke pouring out of the top of store's roll-down gate, North Hudson Regional Fire Rescue Chief Frank Montagne said.
