While casinos and some other forms of betting are very popular Minnesota Wild T-Shirts , one of the most popular forms of gambling in recent years has been sports betting.
Countries all over the world have different scenes and laws surrounding gambling and sports betting in general. Morocco is one of the largest scenes for gambling in general in the continent of Africa.
Sports betting is popular because people do not only have the opportunity to put their money on the line, but it helps them to become even more invested in the sports that they are watching. Some people might say that this is a great way to increase the support of fans in sports, but others would say that it is damaging to society.
This is particularly true in Morocco. Morocco is a country that harbors a vast majority of people that are of the Islamic faith. In traditional Islamic practices, to gamble with not be in compliance with their faith. Because of this, it is somewhat of a surprise that the country has allowed gambling to take place within its borders.
There is no doubt that there are many people that are against the fact that gambling takes place within the country, but the fact of the matter is that some of these Muslim countries feel that they need money to continue running. Gambling is a great way to do this. Because of this, there have been many countries in the areas of the globe that are generally Islamic that have implemented sports betting into their system. Among these countries are Egypt, Tunis and Lebanon. Since implementing gambling into the countries there has been revenue going to the country. This shows that there is definitely a market for gambling, even in religious countries.
One of the most popular sports in the country is of course soccer. Soccer is popular all over the world and represents a large part of the sports interest within the country. It is a sport that people follow all over the country and is a great sport for betting because so many people are not only interested in the sport, but they are informed about it. The soccer played in Morocco is between teams within the country and they also play games against teams from other countries.
The country has certainly found a source of revenue in gambling. There are many counties that have legalized betting on sports because it is already taking place within their borders. There are millions and even billions of dollars being passed around illegally. Many countries, like Morocco, have decided that if people are going to do it regardless of the legality of the actions, that they might as well make it legal and find a way to make revenue off of the actions of their citizens. The gambling scene within the country is as good as any in the North African region and will only continue to grow with time.
RABAT, Morocco, March 16 (Xinhua) -- After over five months without a government, Morocco's king Mohammed VI decided to appoint another prime minister from the Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD) to form a new government.
PJD leader Abdelilah Benkirane has been unable to form a new government since his re-appointment as prime minister by the king in mid-October following his party's win in the parliamentary elections.
"Given the king's constitutional powers to ensure the constitution is respected, institutions function properly and maintain the best interests of the country and citizens, it was consequently concerning to overcome the current impasse, therefore the king decided to appoint a new prime minister from the PJD," a statement from the king's office announced on Wednesday.
While the name of the PJD member has not yet been revealed, the statement said the king will receive this individual soon and will task him with forming a new government.
The PJD leader has called for a party leadership meeting and asked party members not to comment on the king's decision.
The landmark announcement came as Morocco's 2011 constitution says nothing about the inability of a prime minister-designate in forming a majority government.
The constitution only states that the king would appoint the prime minister from within the leading political party in the Chamber of Representatives members' elections.
The announcement came also to mark an unprecedented political impasse in the history of the north African kingdom.
During the five-month deadlock, Benkirane opted for two different approaches to forming his coalition.
The first approach consisted of opening up to all the parties, except its main rival, the secularist Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which also announced from day one its rejection of forming a government with PJD.
This approach garnered the support of only two parties, namely its leftist ally Party of Progress and Socialism, with 12 seats in parliament, and the nationalist Istiqlal Party, with 46 seats.
With PJD's 125 seats, the coalition failed to reach the required majority in the 395-seat parliament.
While Benkirane was keen to add at least one of his two partner parties in the previous government, the liberal National Rally of Independents (RNI) and the nationalist Popular Movement (MP) both refused the participation of the Istiqlal party.
After the first approach failed, Benkirane decided to restrict the new government membership to the parties that formed the previous coalition.
This move has not been accepted by the RNI and the MP, which had already formed another coalition with the Constitutional Union Party (UC) and the Socialist Union of Popular Forces Party (USFP), and insisted that they also join the new government.
