TORONTO - Quarterback Anthony Calvillo, who helped the Montreal Alouettes earn their first win in three games, was named the CFLs Gibsons Finest offensive player of the week Tuesday. Calvillo completed 30-of-36 passes for 349 yards and a touchdown as Montreal beat the Toronto Argonauts 36-23. Calvillo also broke Damon Allens all-time CFL completions record of 5,158 with an 18-yard strike to Brandon London in the first quarter. B.C. Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian was named the top defensive player. Edmonton Eskimos tailback Jerome Messam was the top Canadian. He ran for 50 yards on eight carries and added four catches for 31 yards in a 28-16 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
