Last week was a time for new quarterbacks to take over in the NFL and the results were, somewhat predictably, mixed. cheap jerseys wholesale . The most ballyhooed of them all was Broncos QB Tim Tebow, who did virtually nothing for the first 55 minutes, but a couple of late drives pushed him to 161 passing yards, with two touchdowns, complemented by 59 rushing yards. Its not earth-shattering stuff, but Tebows rushing yardage and the possibility that he might run for more touchdowns than your average quarterback, does make him intriguing. Eric Decker remains the top Broncos receiving target, but DeMaryius Thomas, a first-round pick in 2010, saw his first action of the season last week and could become a viable threat, provided Tebow can get the ball to him down the field. This week, Tebow will try to make magic once again against the Detroit Lions, who have lost two straight, but have allowed only 6.0 yards per pass attempt, second-best in the league. While Tebow rallied the Broncos late, Minnesota Vikings rookie Christian Ponder had Minnesota in the lead at halftime, deflated in the third quarter, then rallied to make the game close in the fourth, providing a backdoor cover for those interested in such things. Ponder completed 13 of 32 passes for 219 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against Green Bay. Accuracy is an issue, as his completion percentage wasnt nearly good enough and his pair of third-quarter picks paved the way for the Packers comeback, but there were things to like about Ponder too. Hes mobile enough to roll out and elude pressure, has a strong arm and isnt afraid to gun the ball downfield which makes Michael Jenkins, a tall receiver with deep speed, an appealing target, especially with Percy Harvin nursing a rib injury. There could be some growing pains for Ponder, but this week at Carolina should be an opportunity to put up some decent yardage, provided his accuracy improves. Washington turned their offence over to John Beck, who passed for 279 yards in a losing effort against Carolina. Beck will have some changes in his supporting cast (see below), but his results seem to suggest that he wont necessarily be overwhelmed by the Bills defence hes facing in Toronto this week. While Rams starter Sam Bradford deals with a high ankle sprain, veteran A.J. Feeley handles the starting job, though not very effectively, passing for 196 yards in St. Louis 34-7 loss to Dallas. Brandon Lloyd upgrades the Rams receiving corps, but Feeley isnt Bradford and the Rams have struggled even with Bradford directing the offence. Rams WR Danario Alexander is bothered by a hamstring injury, which should mean more balls for newcomer Brandon Lloyd and Brandon Gibson, but could also give Greg Salas more looks against New Orleans. Few teams that change quarterbacks are doing so with the expectation of rolling along smoothly. With changes come difficulties but, for the long-term good of the team, these moves are made. Now its up to the young QBs (not so much Feeley) to prove that they can be the answer. INJURIES- Redskins WR Santana Moss and RB Tim Hightower are out. Moss for 5-7 weeks with a broken hand and Hightower for the season with a torn ACL. That leaves Beck to throw to Jabar Gaffney and Anthony Armstrong at wide receiver...with a shot for veteran Donte Stallworth to perhaps play a more significant role. In the running game, Ryan Torain might hold a slight edge on rookie Roy Helu for touches with Hightower out and whoever is running should be reasonably productive, such is the nature of Mike Shanahans offence. This weeks matchup against Buffalo could be favourable too, as NT Kyle Williams is out for the Bills due to a foot injury and that will weaken Buffalo at the point of attack, which they call ill-afford, given that they allow 5.1 yards per carry. In addition to the shuffling at running back and wide receiver, TE Chris Cooley is officially on IR, cementing Fred Davis as Washingtons primary receiving threat at the position. - Cowboys RB Felix Jones remains out with a high ankle sprain, so Dallas will have to make do with DeMarco Murray, who rushed for 253 yards against St. Louis last week. - Cardinals RB Beanie Wells was expected to miss some time with a knee injury, but its not a sure thing, as he has participated in a limited role in practice this week. If Wells cant play, Alfonso Smith figures to get the most action in the Arizona backfield. Going up against a Ravens D that allows 3.3 yards per carry isnt ideal for an injured Wells, or any running back for that matter. - Browns RB Peyton Hillis continues to be limited by a hamstring injury, making Montario Hardesty more likely to get the bulk of the work at San Francisco this week. The 49ers run defence has allowed 74.7 yards per game, second-best in the league. - Lions QB Matthew Stafford has been slowed by an ankle injury, but is expected to play at Denver this week. - Broncos RB Willis McGahee is expected to be out for at least this weeks game against Detroit with a broken bone in his hand. McGahees absence will give Knowshon Moreno a chance to perhaps get more than 10 carries in a game for the first time since Week 14 last season. - Texans WR Andre Johnson hasnt played since Week Four against Pittsburgh due to a hamstring injury and, since he has participated in practice, it was thought he may return this week against Jacksonville, but it might be another week before the Texans get their game-breaking receiver back on the field, so Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter remain more viable alternatives for deep leagues or as replacements for the bye week. - Saints RB Mark Ingram will miss this weeksgame with a heel injury, but it may not even cause a blip for New Orleans as they still have Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Chris Ivory (just activated from the PUP list) available to share the workload. The Rams give up an NFL-high 183.8 yards per game on the ground, so there ought to be enough touches to spread the wealth for the Saints. - The Lions were awfully sporting in their decision to split the carries between Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams, with Jahvid Best out, giving each nine chances to run against Atlanta, and they combined for 94 yards on those 18 carries. - Colts RB Joseph Addai remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, giving Delone Carter and Donald Brown more touches in the Indy backfield. MATCHUPS- An interesting matchup Sunday night, as Philadelphia sends RB LeSean McCoy and QB Michael Vick up aganist a Dallas defence that has allowed a league-low 69.7 yards per game. - Both Cincinnati and Seattle are allowing under 3.5 yards per carry, which might make for a tough day on the ground for either Marshawn Lynch (provided hes not still hindered by a back injury that kept him out last week) or Cedric Benson. - The Indianapolis Colts have allowed 150.8 rushing yards per game and go into Tennessee this week. If Chris Johnson cant put together a big game this week, then hes really messed up. - Cleveland has allowed a league-low 171.5 passing yards and go to San Francisco, where QB Alex Smith has directed the 49ers 30th-ranked passing offence. - Pittsburgh has allowed 171.9 passing yards per game, but they face New England, as the Patriots have passed for a leaguebest 360.5 yards per game. While Steelers might limit Bradys impact somewhat, hard to imagine Patriots passing attack being shut down. On the other hand, New Englands league-worst pass D might be a good opportunity for Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and wide receivers Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown to match last weeks big production. - Even if the Kansas City Chiefs are improving, QB Matt Cassel could find it challenging to go up against the Chargers third-ranked pass defence. cheap jerseys from china . 26th at 7 p.m. (ET), the NBA office has announced. The Canadiens fired head coach Jacques Martin on Saturday and replaced him with Cunneyworth, who was behind the bench later that night for a 5-3 home loss to New Jersey. The setback dropped Montreal to 13-13-7 on the season and the Habs are last in the Northeast with 33 points -- 10 behind the division-leading Bruins. Viewers in the Canadiens region can watch the game on TSN Canadiens at 7pm et/8pm at and the game can be heard on TSN Radio 990 in Montreal and TSN.ca/Montreal. Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban has the flu and will be a game-time decision. Cunneyworths troops could have a difficult time against the Bruins tonight, as the defending Stanley Cup champions have won four straight, eight of 10 and 18 of their last 21 games. Boston last played on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia and blasted the Atlantic Division-leading Flyers by a 6-0 score. However, Montreal is 2-1 against the Bruins this year, as the Habs won the first two encounters before dropping a 1-0 decision when the clubs last met on Nov. 21 in Quebec. The Canadiens have taken eight of the last 11 regular-season meetings in this series and have five wins in their previous seven trips to Beantown. The Canadiens were dealt a 5-3 loss by the Devils on Saturday and ended a three-game homestand with a 1-2-0 record. Montreal is kicking off a six-game road trip tonight and is 8-6-1 as the guest this year compared to a 5-7-6 mark at the Bell Centre. Chris Campoli, P.K. Subban and Lars Eller all scored for Montreal, while Carey Price allowed all five goals on 35 shots. The Canadiens led the game, 3-2, around the midway point of the second period, but New Jersey scoredd three unanswered goals to skate away with the win. cheap jerseys from china. "We went out and did a lot of good things early on," said Subban. "We got ourselves the lead, but we took a few too many penalties. Eventually with the power play they have, theyre going to find something, which they did." Montreal forwards Brian Gionta (lower body) and Scott Gomez (groin) and defenseman Andrei Markov (knee) are currently on injured reserve and winger Travis Moen has sat out the last two tilts with a foot problem. Moen, who is tied for fourth on the team with eight goals, is doubtful for this evenings tilt. The Bruins were able to exact revenge on the Flyers Saturday, as six different players scored for Boston in a resounding 6-0 road victory. Philadelphia had spoiled the Bruins opening-night raising of their Stanley Cup banner, defeating Boston 2-1 on Oct. 6. Boston returned the favor by snapping Philadelphias winning streak at seven games behind a four-goal first period and Tim Thomas fourth shutout of the season. "We had a well rounded game today," said Thomas, who made 31 saves. "We had all types of situations, power plays, penalty kills and even strength. We scored on the power play and we started out the game with a big goal, which helped put the momentum in our favor. Then, every time there was an opportunity for them to get back in the game, with a penalty or something, we came up big on the penalty kill." Boston has 19 goals during its four-game winning streak and the Bs are now tied with Philadelphia atop the Eastern Conference with 43 points. The Bruins are playing the first of two straight on home ice tonight and will also welcome Florida on Friday. Boston is 11-6-1 as the host this year. Bostons Gregory Campbell will likely miss a fourth straight game tonight with a broken left foot. ' ' '
