ALLEN PARK, Mich. wholesale nfl jerseys . -- Jason Jones signed with Detroit this off-season. Willie Young has been on the Lions for a while now. They do have one thing in common, though -- this training camp is a chance for both defensive ends to earn a bigger role for 2013. When Detroit cut veteran Kyle Vanden Bosch and lost Cliff Avril via free agency, the Lions suddenly needed to replace both starting defensive ends from last season. First-round draft pick Ziggy Ansah could fill one of those spots, but the more experienced Jones and Young are competing for playing time as well. Whoever is on the ends of the line will have to produce to prevent offences from gearing up too much against defensive tackles Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. "Weve got two big guys in the middle who are wreaking havoc and causing a lot of trouble and confusion," Young said. "Its going to be critical that we set solid, strong edges, so those guys can play around in the middle." Avril flourished at times in Detroits defensive scheme. He had 29 sacks over the past three seasons before signing with Seattle. The Lions, meanwhile, nabbed a defensive end from the Seahawks when they signed Jones. After 12 games with Seattle last season -- and no starts -- the 6-foot-5, 276-pound Jones returns to the Detroit area. He is from nearby Southfield and went to Eastern Michigan. "Just coming back in and having the opportunity to start in the NFL is big anywhere," Jones said. "Playing with the guys here right now, I think the skys the limit for us." Jones started 28 games in the 2010 and 2011 seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He has 18 1/2 sacks in his five-year career. Although hes never started, Young played all 16 games last season for the Lions. Now Avril and Vanden Bosch are gone, meaning he could be on the field more this year. "Thats a part of the business," Young said. "Its definitely an opportunity for myself and every defensive end." Jones and Ansah are listed as the starters on Detroits depth chart, with Young and Israel Idonije the top backups. Young was drafted in the seventh round in 2010. "I think that he has skills that fit what we need from that position," coach Jim Schwartz said. "Hes playing with another increase in understanding. Hes a young veteran player now. Hes not a young player anymore." Ansah was taken with the fifth overall pick in this years draft. Detroit is counting on the former Brigham Young standout to develop into a star despite limited experience. He grew up in Ghana, playing soccer and basketball, before playing football for the first time in 2010. Schwartz told reporters not to focus too much on whether Ansah works with the starters or the backups during training camp. "Reps are reps in camps. ... The only guys that are worried about what group people are running with are you guys," Schwartz said. "Our guys are just out there practicing and trying to get as many reps as they can and trying to do well in the reps that they get. Ziggy is no different than the other guys in that regard." Once the season starts, Detroits pecking order at defensive end should be a lot more clear. "Ziggy Ansah, Idonije, Jason Jones, just take those three guys and if there was a curtain in front of them, you couldnt pick out who was who," defensive co-ordinator Gunther Cunningham said. "They are really good people. I think that runs through the defence." NOTES: The Lions claimed LB Adrian Moten off waivers. ... Catch the action live on TSN at 3:30pm et/12:30pm pt. Edmonton, which had won only once through the first 10 games, had actually put together a two-game win streak with victories over Winnipeg in a span of just six days and appeared to be well on its way to extending that minor run last weekend as well. However, after allowing just a single point to Toronto in the first half and leading by three touchdowns in the third quarter, the Esks completely fell apart, surrendering 33 unanswered points in a 34-22 setback at home. The Eskimos saw Reilly exit in the second quarter against Toronto with concussion-like symptoms. Reilly did have one passing score before exiting. Backup signal caller Kerry Joseph completed 13-of-26 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown to Fred Stamps, adding a three-yard rushing score in the third period as well. Stamps, playing in his 100th career game, registered his 10th receiving TD of the season and also crossed the 1,000-yard mark for the fifth straight year. Marcus Howard logged three sacks for the Eskimos and now has nine sacks on the campaign, placing him fourth in the league in that department. As for the Alouettes, their season has been one disappointment after another. For a team that fired first-year head coach Dan Hawkins just weeks into the campaign, perhaps the biggest issue for the squad has been the loss of quarterback Anthony Calvillo. The leagues all-time leader in countless categories, Calvillo was placed on the nine-game injured list for precautionary reasons in early September, forcing the team to go in a different direction. Unfortunately, with Calvillo unavailable, the quarterback position has been handled similar to fantasy football, with cchanges made almost on a weekly basis. cheap jerseys from china. In addition to Calvillo, the Als have also positioned Tanner Marsh, Josh Neiswander and even Troy Smith under center, with results being marginal at best. Like Calvillo, Marsh is also on the injured list now as well. Last week versus visiting Saskatchewan, a team which was the most dominant in the league through the first half of the season, Montreal and Neiswander played just well enough to notch their fifth win of the campaign, a 17-12 decision. The signal caller converted 21-of-36 passes for 264 yards and a score, while Smith added a 54-yard toss to Jerome Messam for good measure. Duron Carter scored the only major of the game for the Als on a 45-yard reception, finishing the contest with six catches for a game-high 152 yards. Defensively, Montreal picked off three Darian Durant passes and recovered a fumble to keep the Roughriders from coming out on the winning side. Not surprisingly, the once prolific passing attack for the Alouettes has slowed considerably in 2013. Ahead of only Winnipeg when it comes to passing yards, Montreal has thrown for a collective 3,209 yards and 14 touchdowns, and at the same time watched 19 attempts get picked off. With the passing attack struggling, Montreal needs to find a way to kick the running game into gear, but thats simply not happening. In fact, in addition to tying for the fewest rushing touchdowns in the league with eight, the Als are at the bottom with regard to first downs produced running the ball (70), and are second-to-last in both yards per game (306.2) and scoring (23.2 ppg). Edmonton leads the all-time series with the Als by a count of 37-28-2, dating back to 1961 and taking into consideration only regular-season matchups. However, Montreal won the most recent battle back in July by a 32-27 margin and has taken seven straight from the Eskimos. ' ' '
