CHARLOTTE, NC – On Saturday evening, NASCAR hosted its 2011 NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards Gala in Charlotte, North Carolina. . Canadian Scott Steckly – driver of the No. 22 Dodge Challenger SRT – was honoured at the event, which wrapped up an extremely successful 2011 racing season for the Dodge contingent competing on Canadas NASCAR circuit. Steckly was the leader of the Dodge brigade during the 12-race series, winning three races and three poles during the season. The Milverton, Ontario resident took the checkered flag in the May 28 season opener at Mosport Speedway and never looked back. He led the points all season long, collecting a total of nine top-five finishes en route to his second career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series title. But Steckly was only one component in Dodges dominant NASCAR campaign in 2011. Dodge drivers won all 12 races during the recently completed season, which featured five road course and seven oval events. "This was a banner year for our Dodge drivers whose performance dominated victory lane in 2011 and continued the winning-tradition of Dodge Motorsports and vehicles," said Reid Bigland, president and CEO, Chrysler Canada. "Racing is in our blood and were proud to support the passion of NASCAR in Canada, congratulations to Scott and the rest of the team on another fantastic season!" In fact, when added to Dodge victories in the final four races of the 2010 schedule – starting with Andrew Rangers August 29, 2010 win at Montreals Circuit Gilles Villeneuve – the manufacturers winning streak stands at 16 heading into the 2012 season. "I would like to congratulate Dodge on an outstanding race season in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series," said Randy Paul, managing director, NASCAR Canada. "Winning every race of the 2011 season is an outstanding accomplishment. The Dodge-Mopar Fast Five Award is a tremendous program that rewards the team for their efforts throughout the season. NASCAR Canada is proud of its partnership with Dodge in the Canadian market." During 2011, seven different Dodge drivers went to NASCARs victory lane. Scott Steckly led the way with three (Mosport Speedway, Motoplex Speedway and Riverside Speedway). DJ Kennington (Mosport International Raceway and Kawartha Speedway), two-time series champ Andrew Ranger (Toronto Indy and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve) and Robin Buck (Circuit ICAR and Trois-Rivières) each earned two checkered flags last season, while single victories went to Don Thomson Jr. (Delaware Speedway), Pete Shepherd III (Auto Clearing Motor Speedway) and Mark Dilley (Barrie Speedway). Dodges dominance was also reflected in the final standings. Including Steckly, Dodge drivers earned eight of the top-10 positions in the year-end points. DJ Kennington, who was the series champion in 2010, was runner-up in the 2011 points, while Don Thomson Jr., Mark Dilley, Ron Beauchamp Jr., Jason White, Jason Hathaway and Dexter Stacey were fifth through 10th, respectively. Dodge and Mopar supported their drivers and teams as proud presenters of the Dodge-Mopar Fast Five Award again in 2011. Cash prizes were presented to the top-five eligible Dodge-Mopar teams after each race. The top-finishing Dodge driver won an additional $2,000, while the second highest-finishing Dodge-Mopar racer received $1,500 bonuses. The third ($1,000), fourth ($750) and fifth ($500) finishing eligible racers also received cash awards based on their results in each race. Scott Steckly is the overall winner of the Dodge-Mopar Fast Five Award for 2011. In other Dodge-related NASCAR Canadian Tire Series news, six different Dodge drivers earned pole positions via qualifying in 2011.Scott Steckly was the Fast Qualifier at Motoplex, Barrie and Riverside, and also started on the pole at Mosport International Raceway – based on his standing in the points – after qualifying was rained out. Andrew Ranger, with sponsorship from the Dodge Dealers of Quebec, posted record-setting pole-winning runs on consecutive weekends at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières and at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Canadian Alex Tagliani, a full-time competitor on the IndyCar circuit, started on the pole in a Dodge at Circuit ICAR, just days after starting on pole in the Indy 500. Pete Shepherd III (Delaware), Jason Bowles (Toronto Indy) and DJ Kennington (Auto Clearing Motor Speedway) were the other Dodge competitors who started on the inside of the front row in 2011. Finally, Stecklys Dodge also topped the Most Laps Led chart in 2011. The two-time champion led the way for a total of 641 laps during the series 12 events. Fellow Dodge pilot Kennington was second in that category with 486. [url=http://www.chinawholesalejersey.us.com/]cheap jerseys from china . Olympic Trials next summer in the hopes of qualifying for London 2012. This would be her fourth Olympic appearance, having competed in Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 before retiring at age 24.LONDON -- With his playing career over, former England captain David Beckham has decided his next move: starting a Major League Soccer team in Miami. Since leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy in December, and retiring from the game after a subsequent five-month stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham has been mulling over the location for his MLS franchise. Beckham has now made up his mind and he would pay a discounted rate of $25 million to start an MLS expansion team in Miami, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because plans for the team arent being publicly discussed yet. The option of becoming a team owner was included in the MLS contract Beckham signed when joining the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007. "We know that Miami is one of the most passionate soccer markets in North America," MLS Executive Vice-President Dan Courtemanche told the AP. "We have met with David Beckham regarding ownership of an expansion team, and we look forward to David one day owning an MLS club." There are currently 19 MLS teams, and league commissioner Don Garber hopes to expand to 24 teams by the 2020 season. A 20th team is already in place to begin playing in 2015 after Premier League club Manchester City and its partner, the New York Yankees, paid an expansion fee of $100 million to launch New York City FC. The MLS still has to give Beckham the go-ahead to make Miami the location of the franchise. Beckham is looking to raise several hundred mmillion dollars of investment to fund the setup costs, including putting together the squad of players and building a stadium. cheap jerseys. Beckhams business partner Simon Fuller, the "American Idol" creator who is the driving force in franchise negotiations, will be a significant shareholder, the person familiar with the situation said. Beckham is looking to sell stakes in the team to other investors, and has already had expressions of interest from businessmen globally. Beckham hopes the team to debut in three years, which would probably require the franchise to initially play in an existing venue. In June, Beckham toured the Sun Life and Florida International University stadiums and met with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. University officials delivered a presentation to Beckham and Marcelo Claure, president and CEO of Brightstar Corp. and a member of the FIU Board of Trustees, explaining the draw of a professional team in Miami. Before deciding on Miami as the franchise location, Beckham explored options in other cities, including Montreal, San Diego and Orlando, the person said. Miami has had a Major League Soccer team before. The Miami Fusion held matches in Fort Lauderdale from 1998 to 2001, before shutting down because of poor attendance. As a former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder, Beckham hopes his star power will make a team work there. Beckhams management team said it is not ready yet to make an announcement about Beckhams franchise ownership option. ' ' '
