Six weeks into the NFL season and weve already seen more than our fair share of surprises, upsets, excitement and drama. The Bills, Bengals, Lions and 49ers are all in the thick of the playoff picture. The Colts are winless. Coaches are fighting during the post-game handshakes. Rex Ryan is still saying silly things and Tom Brady cut his hair. This week there are even more interesting storylines to watch for. The Broncos are turning to Tim Tebow. The Raiders have brought in Carson Palmer. The Bears and Bucs are in London. Brandon Lloyd is a Ram. Donovan McNabb is a spectator. Just your average week in the NFL. Lets take a walk through this weeks games starting with Sundays early matchups: Denver at Miami: Remember when this matchup used to mean Elway vs. Marino? Not anymore. Matt Moore will be under centre for Miami, getting his second start in place of the injured Chad Henne. Meanwhile in Denver, its Tebow Time. Off to their worst start since 1999 (the year after Elway retired) the Broncos have handed over the reigns from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow who will make his first start of the season. Tebow came on in relief of Orton last week and completed 4 of 10 passes for 79 yards and one touchdown while rushing for another score in the Broncos 24-20 loss to the Chargers. Now that hes been given the starting job its time to see if he can live up to the hype. Tebow could hardly ask for a more welcoming visiting crowd this week as he returns to Sun Life Stadium where he led the Florida Gators to the BCS National Championship in 2009. Houston at Tennesse: This game is all about the running backs in a battle of the NFLs last two rushing champs. Houstons Arian Foster led the league with 1,616 rush yards last year while Johhnson finished on top two seasons ago with 2,006 yards. The Texans really need Foster to produce with Mario Williams and stud receiver Andre Johnson out of commission. This is also an important divisional matchup between the two teams looking to take over from the Colts at the top of the AFC South. Did you know this is the first time ever that these two teams will be playing with first place in the division on the line? I guess Peyton Manning means alot to the Colts. Chicago at Tampa Bay (at London): The Bears take on the Buccaneers in a place where football usually means soccer as the two clubs travel to Londons Wembley Stadium this week. For Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman the trip marks a return to the site of his NFL debut. Freeman saw action in the Bucs 35-7 loss to New England at Wembley two years ago. That season the Buccaneers finished 3-13. Now, Tampa Bay is a first place team coming off an impressive win over New Orleans. The Bears meanwhile are coming off a blowout win over the Vikings despite signs of internal strife. Chicago running back Matt Forte leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 908 and is always a player to watch. Devin Hester could also charge up the London crowd if he is able to break another big return. Atlanta at Detroit: The Lions are looking to rebound from their first loss of the season on Sunday when they host Michael Turner and the Falcons. The Lions are going to need to shore up their porous run defence against Turner if they want to get back into the win column and keep their Cinderella season going. On offence for the Lions, Calvin Johnson and his league-leading nine receiving touchdowns will look to have a heyday against the Falcons 27th-ranked pass defence. For a little added intrigue fans will also be watching to see how Lions coach Jim Schwartz reacts during the post-game handshake this week. Seattle at Cleveland (TSN2, Sunday, 1pm et/10am pt): Two tortured sports cities going head-to-head. Charlie Whitehurst vs. Colt McCoy. This game will be most interesting for those with fantasy points on the line or gamblers with bets at stake. San Diego at New York Jets: Rex Ryan shoved his foot in his mouth again when he said that if he were in Norv Turners position hed have had a couple Super Bowl rings already. Its also the first matchup between LaDainian Tomlinson and his former team since he was cut by the Chargers in 2010. The Jets at 3-3 need a win to keep pace in the tough AFC East. Turners Chargers meanwhile are on the brink of their best start in nine years at 4-1. They havent really had a signature victory yet though with all four of their wins coming against sub-par opposition. A victory over the Jets and Tomlinson could be exactly what they are looking for. Washington at Carolina: Mike Shanahan has handed over the keys to the Redskins offence to quarterback John Beck for this Sundays matchup. Beck was narrowly beaten out by Rex Grossman in training camp for the starting job. But after Grossman threw four interceptions last week Shanahan decided to make the switch and give Beck his first start in nearly four years. Meanwhile, Carolina has generally been happy with the way Cam Newton has played but find themselves a long way back in the NFC South at 1-5. Turning to the late afternoon games on Sunday things could really get interesting in Oakland. Kansas City at Oakland: Carson Palmer could make his Raiders debut this week as the teams starter when they take on the Chiefs. The Raiders gave up a lot to get him, trading two high draft picks to the Bengals. But will he be worth it? Palmer has not played meaningful football in nearly a year. If he gets in it will be interesting to see how rusty he is and just how limited the Raiders playbook is. The Chiefs and Raiders rivalry is always a fun one but if Palmer is added to the mix, this becomes a must watch game. If Palner doesnt play Kyle Boller makes this matchup far less intriguing. Pittsburgh at Arizona: The Steelers have been very up and down this season but shouldnt have any problems with the Cardinals in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII. This an important game for the 4-2 Steelers though as they cant afford an upset heading into a pair of tough matchups against New England and Baltimore. The next few weeks are going to be very important to the reigning AFC champions hopes in the AFC North Division. St. Louis at Dallas: What game in Arlington are fans going to be more interested in on Sunday: The Rams at the Cowboys or the Cardinals at the Rangers in Game 4 of the World Series? There are a few interesting storylines to watch for in this game such as Brandon Lloyd making his Rams debut. Its tough to say what kind of impact he could have this week given the short amount of time hes been with the team. And if Sam Bradford cant go and A.J. Feely makes the start the Rams passing game may be extremely limited. For Dallas its time to take another ride on the Romo-coaster. Will he be up? Will he be down? Who knows? Green Bay at Minnesota: The 6-0 Packers take on the 1-5 Vikings, who have officially turned to rookie QB Christian Ponder. This could get ugly. Ponder has been named the Vikings starting quarterback for the rest of the season, relegating Donovan McNabb to spectator status. The move suggests the Vikings are ready to write off this season and look to the future. But to be honest, the move might actually be an immediate upgrade given how McNabb has fared this season and the was Ponder played in relief last week. For the Packers, going up against a rookie pivot could be the boost their struggling pass-defence needs. Its pretty much the only area in which the Packers havent been great so far. Moving on to prime time, its a case of what could have been. Indianapolis at New Orleans (TSN, Sunday, 7pm et/4pm pt): The Sunday Nighter would have been the marquee matchup of Week 7 with Peyton Manning taking on Drew Brees in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIV. Without Manning, this should be a rout for the Saints who are looking to rebound after a loss to the Buccaneers. Brees has been his own worst enemy of late with eight interceptions since Week 3. The ragged Colts could be just what the doctor ordered to get things firing on all cylinders. Baltimore at Jacksonville (TSN, Monday, 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt): The Ravens host the Jaguars this week in the Monday nighter followed by a trip to Arizona for Week 8. If they handle their business in the next two weeks they should be 6-1 heading into their Week 9 AFC North clash with the Steelers. The Ravens defence has looked dominant of late and team has outscored its opponents by a combined score of 100-38 during a three-game winning streak. Right now it looks as though the division is theirs for the taking, as long as they dont fall asleep against the Jags. cheap jerseys from china . Another training session Friday remains on the schedule before Saturdays downhill race. The weekend concludes with a super-G race Sunday. World Cup rules require at least one official training session to be held before a downhill race.A pair of Western Canadian NHL teams travel east tonight as the Vancouver Canucks face the Buffalo Sabres and the Edmonton Oilers battle the New York Islanders. The Vancouver Canucks will face former teammate Cody Hodgson and the Buffalo Sabres when the clubs meet in tonights clash at First Niagara Center. The Sabres were 0-6-1 through the first seven games of 2013-14, but finally picked up a victory in Tuesdays road tilt against the New York Islanders. Tyler Ennis scored the deciding goal during the second round of the shootout to lift the Sabres to a come-from-behind win at Nassau Coliseum. The 4-3 shootout decision ended a club record-tying streak for futility at the start of the season. The last time Buffalo went seven games into a campaign without a victory was in 1999-2000, when the Sabres recorded five losses and two ties. The Sabres trailed 3-2 before Marcus Foligno found the back of the net with 2:01 remaining in the third period, and Thomas Vanek and Ennis both converted their shootout opportunities before Ryan Miller officially stopped Buffalos losing streak with a save on John Tavares. Ennis and Vanek also scored in regulation, while Miller racked up 41 saves prior to stoning two of New Yorks three skaters in the shootout. "It was a great job by our guys," said Miller. "Glad to get that (first win)." Buffalo now has a chance to earn its first home win of the season, having posted an 0-3-1 mark in Western New York so far. Thursdays contest marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Sabres, who also will welcome Colorado and Boston during the residency. Sabres forward Hodgson will play his second career game against the Canucks, who drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the 2008 draft before eventually trading him to Buffalo for fellow forward Zack Kassian during the 2011-12 season. Hodgson played at Vancouver on March 3, 2012, less than one week after the trade, but did not record a point in that meeting. Kassian had one goal and one assist in that game, which Buffalo won by a 5-3 score. Hodgson has one goal and five assists in eight games this season. Kassian, meanwhile, has failed to record a point for the Canucks in two games since returning from a suspension for a high-sticking incident against Edmonton in the preseason. All told, Hodgson has 19 goals and 48 points in 76 games since the trade, while Kassian has posted eight goals and six assists over 58 contests with the Canucks. Vancouver had lost two straight regulation games by identical 4-1 scores before ending the brief slide with Tuesdays win in Philadelphia. Ryan Kesler scored a pair of goals, including the deciding tally with 2:25 left in regulation, to help the Canucks open a seven-game road trip on a positive note. The Canucks trailed the Flyers by a 2-1 count heading into the third period, but Vancouver scored the only two goals of the final 20 minutes to take a 3-2 decision. Chris Higgins added a goal and one assist and tied the game at 2-2 with 12:29 remaining in the third period, setting up Keslers game-winner. Henrik Sedin posted two helpers for the Canucks, while Roberto Luongo stopped 20 shots for the win. "It was a nice one, especially since the couuple of guys that scored goals had been working hard all year so far, but hadnt gotten rewarded much," Luongo said.dddddddddddd "So its nice that they both contributed in a huge way there." Vancouver is 2-1-0 as the visiting team this season and will continue its swing this Saturday in Pittsburgh. The Sabres have won four of the last five meetings against the Canucks. Buffalo also has claimed three in a row and five of the past six encounters in Western New York. EDMONTON OILERS vs. NEW YORK ISLANDERS A couple of teams desperate for a victory will meet Thursday on Long Island when the New York Islanders host the Edmonton Oilers at Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders are 2-2-2 on the season and enter Thursday riding an 0-2-1 losing streak. New York dropped the first two games of this slide on the road, but couldnt break the trend in Tuesdays home game against the Buffalo Sabres, who recorded a 4-3 shootout win to earn their first victory of the season. New York led the Sabres 3-2 after Matt Moulsons power-play goal with 11:16 remaining in the third period. However, Marcus Foligno netted the equalizer for Buffalo with 2:01 left in regulation and Tyler Ennis notched the decisive goal for the Sabres in the shootout. Thomas Vanek and Ennis both converted their shootout opportunities for Buffalo before Ryan Miller officially sealed the win for the Sabres with a save on John Tavares. In addition to Moulsons score, the Islanders also received goals from Frans Nielsen and Matt Martin, while Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 31 shots in the loss. "We put a lot of pucks on net today," said Tavares. "We didnt get the result we wanted. When we have a lead, we have to bear down and find a way to get the job done." New York is 1-0-2 on home ice this season and is playing the second test of a four-game stand on Thursday. Edmonton has just one win in seven games (1-5-1) this season and the club will be aiming for its first victory at Nassau Coliseum since 1999 when it takes the ice on Thursday. The Oilers have dropped six in a row on Long Island since last earning a road win against the Isles on Dec. 14, 1999. New York has taken two of three and eight of the last 11 meetings in this series overall. The Oilers last played on Tuesday when they dropped a 3-2 regulation decision in Pittsburgh. Evgeni Malkin potted the game-winner on the power play 7:20 into the third period to hand Edmontons its fourth straight loss. Jordan Eberle and Ales Hemsky each scored once for the Oilers, while Jason LaBarbera stopped 25-of-28 shots. "Its about wins and losses and weve got to find ways to win games," LaBarbera said. "Thats the bottom line. Everyone of us can step it up a bit more and just find a way to get a win and get a good feeling in here." Its unclear if LaBarbera or the struggling Devan Dubnyk will get the start tonight for the Oilers. Dubnyk entered this season as the clubs clear No. 1 goaltender, but he is 0-3-1 with an astronomical 5.43 goals against average and .829 save percentage in four games. The Oilers are 0-2-1 so far on a six-game road trip and will play the next portion of the swing Saturday in Ottawa. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
