Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Vince Young is listed as day-to-day with a hamstring strain. Young was hurt during Thursdays 24-14 preseason win over the Jets when he pulled up lame while scrambling on the right side late in the second quarter. Michael Vicks backup was untouched on the play, throwing an incomplete pass. After hobbling to the sideline, Young was worked on by trainers who targeted the quarterbacks right leg. An MRI performed on Friday confirmed that Young has a right hamstring strain. Young completed 15-of-23 passes for 193 yards on Thursday. He threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Chad Hall in the first quarter. I see the potential in Carter as a big, strong centre to generate 40-plus goals per season in the right environment. On that basis alone, his appeal would be widespread. However, Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson felt considerable pressure from ownership to make a significant deal and add a player with star status to give Columbus a boost both on the ice and off. I am certain Howson wasnt in love with the contract, but was swayed by the potential of the player.
