(Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers shoot for a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins when the two AL Central foes collide tonight at Comerica Park. Detroit has won three in a row overall and is coming off back-to-back one-run victories over the Twins after Mondays 6-5 triumph and last nights 8-7 decision in the second installment of this series. Brennan Boesch lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Danny Worth and Joaquin Benoit pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his second save. It felt good, Boesch said. I was trying to just get a good pitch to hit, be patient and get the job done. I was able to drive in the winning run and it feels pretty good. Max Scherzer did not record a decision and was hammered for seven runs and nine hits over 6 2/3 innings of work. Al Alburquerque collected the win by striking out a pair of batters in the top of the eighth. Boesch and Jhonny Peralta both drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers, who extended their winning streak over Minnesota to eight games. The last time the Tigers recorded an eight-game winning streak against Minnesota was June 5-August 19, 1981. Rick Porcello gets the nod tonight for the Tigers and had his unbeaten streak come to an end in Fridays 6-3 loss versus Boston. Porcello was 4-0 in six starts and fell to 4-3 this season to go along with a 3.93 ERA. The righty defeated the Twins on May 10 at Target Field and is 3-3 in eight starts against them to go along with a 2.66 ERA. Minnesota is 0-2 on a 10-game road trip and lost for the ninth time in 11 tries last night. Brian Duensing started for the Twins and was reached for six runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings for the no-decision. Phil Dumatrait took the loss for allowing the go-ahead run over the last 1 1/3 innings for the Twins. Justin Morneau clubbed a pair of homers and finished with three runs scored and three RBI in defeat. Were battling our tails off and the guys are still in the game, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. We have to continue to do that and find a way to win these ball games. But unfortunately for us its another loss. The Twins will also visit the Royals and Indians on the road trip and will hand the ball to Scott Baker Wednesday night. Baker is 2-3 with a 3.65 ERA in 10 starts and has recorded back-to-back no-decisions. In a 6-5 loss to the Angels on Friday at home, Baker threw seven shutout innings, allowed six hits and fanned six batters. Baker did not record a decision versus Detroit in a 9-7 loss on May 11, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 frames, and is 6-4 with a 4.84 ERA in 21 career starts in this series.
