Rochesters Nathan Lieuwen made 36 saves for the win as Garret Sparks turned away 19-of-23 shots in defeat. MacLeod cut the Americans lead in half late in the second period, but Ellis and Varone scored three minutes apart midway through the third period to break the game open.
