The retro runner got an even bigger boost in yesteryear aesthetics thanks to the vibrant combination of pink and purple playing with grey suede and white mesh throughout, showcasing the NYC retailer’s unique ability to bring out the best in its collaborations, even when the shoe isn’t one of NB’s premier silhouettes. As we continue to get more looks at the New Balance “Connoisseur Painters” collection, today brings about a viewing of the 1300 silhouette. Of course one of the most revered retro runners in the NB fleet, this new scheme is constructed in premium suede and mesh over the cushion friendly ENCAP midsole.

New Balance has been rather prolific with its disconnected Author’s Collection throughout the latter half of 2014. The premium detailing on numerous silhouettes has been a pleasant surprise and now the new balance 420 grey joins the ranks. The 997 is a strange shoe to see without its signature reflective accents, but it manages to work through the absence thanks to a luxurious black leather and brown suede. Grey mesh works the base of the shoe while suede black overlays surround the toe box, leading from the midfoot to the rear. A neon lined “N” logo in blue paired with a vibrant heel gives the shoe much needed pops of color where the otherwise subtle grey and black body does not.
