A career performance from Erie Otters goaltender Tyson Teichmann wasnt enough to defeat the defending Ontario Hockey League champions for a second straight night. The Owen Sound Attack overcame Teichmanns 55-save performance and beat the Otters 6-3 Saturday. The Attack outshot the Otters 61-23 on their way to splitting the weekend doubleheader, including 48-13 in the final two periods. Teichmann kept the game from being a rout. Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Belleville 3 Kingston 0; Barrie 8 Niagara 6; Sarnia 4 Kitchener 3; and Windsor 5 Oshawa 4 (SO). At Erie, Pa., the Attack (4-4-0) built an early 1-0 lead on the Otters for the second straight night, as Brendan Childerley poked a wrap-around past Teichmann 1:28 into the opening period. But as in a 7-4 win Friday, the Otters (1-5-0) responded. Veteran forwards Luke Cairns and Greg McKegg, who combined for two goals and 11 points on Friday, teamed up on Cairns third goal in two nights to tie the score 1-1 at the 3:37 mark. Then late in the period, Sondre Oldens hustle behind Owen Sounds net led to fellow rookie Connor Browns first OHL goal. Olden deflected goaltender Jordan Binningtons errant pass. Brown picked up the loose puck and slipped it into the open net for a 2-1 Otters lead with 5:44 left in the period. The Attack tied the score at 2-2 on Joseph Blandisis rebound goal 3:41 into the second. Then the Otters inability to clear their defensive zone led to the tiebreaking goal with 7:42 left in the period. Daniel Catenacci scored off a scramble in front, with Jarrod Maidens and Keevin Cutting earning the assist. The Otters were fortunate to trail only 3-2 heading into the third. Owen Sound outshot the Otters 28-7 in the middle period to build a 41-18 advantage after 40 minutes. Teichmann made several key stops, including a sprawling save in which he swatted the puck off the goal-line. He kept Eries deficit at a goal for most of the third period. But former Otters winger Brett Appio scored the clinching goal off a rebound to hand the Attack a 4-2 lead with 6:20 left. Appio had a goal and assist -- his first points of the season. Cameron Brace added an insurance goal on a breakaway less than two minutes later. Travis Wood scored for the second straight night 1:18 after Braces goal. Fellow rookie defenceman Liam Maaskant earned the assist for his first career point. Bulls 3 Frontenacs 0@ At Belleville, Ont., Jordan Subbans first OHL goal and John Chartrands first OHL shutout led the Bulls (4-3-0) over Kingston (1-6-1). --- Colts 8 IceDogs 6@ At Barrie, Ont., Tanner Pearson had a goal and four assists to lead the Colts (4-2-1) over Niagara (2-4-1). --- Sting 4 Rangers 3@ At Sarnia, Ont., Reid Boucher had a hat trick as the Sting (4-1-1) edged Kitchener (3-2-0). --- Spitfires 5 Generals 4 (SO)@ At Windsor, Ont., Kerby Rychel scored the shootout winner and John Cullen made 39 saves as the Spitfires (5-3-0) downed Oshawa (2-4-1). . Sipple was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Angels last season, following his senior year at Florida Southern College. NEWPORT -- South African journeyman Keith Horne led the Wales Open after shooting a 7-under 64 in the opening round on Thursday, with defending champion Graeme McDowell trailing by three strokes at Celtic Manor. Horne made birdies on five of the last eight holes on his Wales Open debut, his 100th tournament on the European Tour since 2000. He turned pro at 25 and turns 40 next week. Horne secured his European Tour card last year and still seeks his first tour win, so he relished coming home in 30 shots on the links course. "The golf course was playing as easy as its going to play," said the 289th-ranked Horne. "The front nine was pretty tough because it was a bit cold and the ball wasnt going that far. The pins were pretty difficult on the front nine, too. "Once it warmed up and once I started to warm up myself and make a few birdies, I actually really enjoyed the back nine." Ryder Cup player Peter Hanson was second after making four straight birdies from No. 14 in shooting a 65. The Swede was followed by English pair Steve Webster and Paul Broadhurst plus Alvaro Velasco of Spain, who all shot 66. McDowell, Hansons playing partner, was next in a group of six. He eagled the par-4 No. 15 with a 30-foot putt, but then failed with a birdie attempt at the next, the same hole where his 20-footer clinched victory over Hunter Mahan in the Ryder Cup last October. "I guess Ive used all my magic up on that green," McDowell said. "Overall, Im very happy with the way I played. The course is running pretty fast and firm, so its playing reasonably short. The greens are not as good as Ive seen them here at Celtic Manor. The greens are very receptive and very soft and theres quite a lot of growth on them, so they are tough to putt on. "Generally, very happy with 4-under par, very happy with the way I struck the ball and there were a lot of good things, a lot of positives out there.dddddddddddd" McDowell is also the U.S. Open champion, his victory at Pebble Beach coming on the back of his Wales Open win in a great year for the Northern Irishman. Despite missing the cut at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last week, he is mostly happy with his game. "I feel like Ive got a better understanding for my golf swing and what Im trying to do with it," McDowell said. "I can see my way around the golf course now. I was really happy with that ball flight, to see that coming back into my game was nice, and I drove the ball really solidly today as well." Hanson, McDowell, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Ross Fisher are the only Ryder Cup players in the field, although captain Colin Montgomerie and vice captains Darren Clarke and Thomas Bjorn are also playing. Fisher failed to come through qualifying for the U.S. Open on Monday, and needs to play well at Celtic Manor if he is to regain a place in the worlds top 50 and win a place at the tournament on Washingtons Congressional course from June 16-19. The Englishman hit back from bogeys at No. 12 and No. 13 with birdies in three of the last four holes in a 70, including at the last where his long eagle putt stopped just before the cup. Jimenez hit a 73, while Montgomerie signed for a 77 only four days after his first top-10 finish for almost three years, when he finished joint seventh at the BMW PGA Championship. John Daly made four bogeys on the front nine and two on the back in a 77. Elliot Saltman of Scotland, who completed a three-month ban from the European Tour last month for marking his ball incorrectly, had a hole-in-one at No. 17. He followed it up with an eagle in a round of 73, the same score as his brother Lloyd. cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
