5 juveniles arrested in New Orleans East burglaries


Monday at a home in the 7300 block of Spring Lake Drive. Officers responded to a residential burglar alarm at the residence. Video surveillance captured three suspects buy fake oakleys throwing a brick through the glass of the home's back door. A short time later, police say they observed three suspects running into the backyard of a residence in the 7100 block of Benson Court. After a brief foot chase, police say the suspects were apprehended without incident.

Two additional arrests were made in a similar incident on Thursday, police say. Wednesday, a witness observed two unknown juveniles kicking in the front door of a residence. The witness immediately called for police. A foot pursuit ensued, during which one of the suspects dropped a flat screen television.


Both suspects were apprehended without any further incident. The victims' property from the burglary was recovered on the scene. Police have identified the suspects as a 13 year old male and a 15 year old male.


Detectives say they are in the process of gathering evidence that might link the suspects to similar burglaries in the area.
