Embraced by snow-capped mountains, the Kanas Lake area is covered with dense forests and is the only region where animals and plants of South Siberia species can be found in China for China travels. Between July and August, the area around Kanas Lake is filled with locals who come for the Nadam Fair. They buy and sell handicrafts and take part in local festival activities including a rather bizarre sport known as Sheep Tussling.

Besides the famous legends about "Kanas Monster", the "Emei Spectacle", "#cas0429" that lights up the clouds after a morning rain, adds another air of mystery to the lake. The practices of the Tuwa Tribe and Altai Mountain rock-paintings have been attracting explorers and travelers of Silk Road travel to this area for decades.

Arriving in Kanas Lake, you will find a paradise for spending vocations. Thick forests stand by the riverbank, giving out scent of pines. In grasslands on the hill, there are blocks of log cabins, including new European-style houses and local traditional houses of Tuwa People. The lakeside is covered with lush grasses and trees, some trestles stretching to the middle of the lake. Mid-level morning fogs and beautiful lakeside sceneries can be viewed from the bridgehead and you can reach the other side of the river by the yacht. A wooden bridge connects the east and the west of the lake in the drain opening of the lake. Standing on the bridge, flat Dragon Bay is to the north while rushing Kanas River lies to the south.
