The Toronto Maple Leafs officially named Peter Horachek the clubs interim head coach on Wednesday, one day after firing Randy Carlyle. Horachek was originally named an assistant coach of the Maple Leafs on July 11, 2014. The Stoney Creek, Ontario native served as head coach of the American Hockey Leagues San Antonio Rampage at the beginning of the 2013-14 season before being appointed head coach of the Florida Panthers with 66 games remaining in the regular season. Prior to joining the Panthers organization, Horachek spent nine seasons as an assistant coach with the Nashville Predators (2003-2013), serving his last two years as associate coach.
