Morales, Reals star midfielder, was stretchered off in the first half after a foul from Chivas Marcos Mondaini resulted in an obvious broken leg or ankle. Morales remained on the field for nearly five minutes before being taken off. Johnson secured the win for Real (5-1-0) three minutes from time when he poked the ball inside the right post from just a yard out. Nick Rimando was untested as he posted his third shutout and the fourth for Real this season. RSL went up a man inside 30 minutes after Chivas defender Andrew Boyens earned two quick yellow cards, and had a two-man advantage after Mondaini was shown a straight red for the foul on Morales late in the first half. Real struggled to crack former assistant and new Chivas manager Robin Frasers defense until Collen Warner flicked the ball on to Johnson, who notched his first of the season. Although the extent of Morales injury was unknown, he obviously sustained a significant injury, as his foot was pointing the wrong way after the tackle.
