San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox continued to be active on Thursday, as they signed right-hander Justin Masterson to a one- year deal. Boston also acquired righty Rick Porcello from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday and are apparently working toward a deal that would also land them lefty Wade Miley. USA Today reported that Masterson will earn $9 million this season. Masterson started his career with the Red Sox and pitched parts of two seasons there before being sent to Cleveland for Victor Martinez in 2009. The 29-year-old sinkerballer was an All-Star for the Tribe in 2013, but struggled last season and was eventually dealt to St. Louis at the non-waiver trade deadline. He was 7-9 combined last season with a 5.88 ERA in 28 games (25 starts). Masterson is 60-72 lifetime with a 4.24 ERA in 240 games (175 starts) for the Red Sox, Indians and Cardinals. . -- Alan Gordon scored the second of his two goals in stoppage time to help Toronto FC salvage a 2-2 draw with his former Los Angeles Galaxy teammates on Saturday night. OAKLAND, Calif. -- Josh Outman and Joey Devine pitched in the same game for the first time Saturday night. Theyve both come a long way. Coco Crisp had two hits and drove in the go-ahead run to help the Oakland Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 on Saturday night. Outman (1-0) earned his first major-league victory since June 8, 2009 against the Minnesota Twins. Outman and Devine missed last year following Tommy John surgery. "Knowing what we both went through to get back to this point and taking part in a team win feels nice," Outman said. "My first win in a while. Thats a plus." Mark Ellis hit a home run and Josh Willingham and Kevin Kouzmanoff also drove in runs for the As, who have won four of their last five following a season-high six-game losing streak. Adam Jones and Craig Tatum each drove in runs for the Orioles, who have lost 11 of their last 12 games in Oakland. "This has always been, this time of year, an unfriendly place," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "But we had some opportunities and we just couldnt take advantage of it." Outman, in his second start since returning to the majors for the first time in two years, allowed two runs and six hits over six innings. He walked five. "I definitely pitched myself into some jams," Outman said. "Walks -- I need to cut back on those." Brad Bergesen (1-6) allowed three runs and nine hits in 5 2-3 innings. He walked two and struck out five. Devine, Grant Balfour each pitched a scoreless inning and Brian Fuentes got the final three outs for his 10th save in 12 chances. Fuentes recorded his first save in his first save opportunity since May 8. Crisp, Ellis, Kouzmanoff and Cliff Pennington each had two hits for the As, who recorded double-digits in hits for the third consecutive game for just the second time this season. "I felt like I made my pitch to Pennington and he was just able to get enough of it and put it in play," Bergesen said. "Thats a tough one. There were times I felt really good." Ellis ended a 50-game homerless streak with his solo shot in the eighth, making it 4-2. Crisp put the As ahead with a two-out RBI single in the sixth. The As scored two of their runs with two outs and have scored seven of their last 10 runs with two outs. The Orioles did not get a runner past first base since they left the bases loaded in the fourth. Vladimir Guerrero singled in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
