James Reimer and his Toronto teammates return to the scene of the crime Saturday night. Its a new season -- some six months on -- so the chalk outline of the Maple Leafs has been erased at TD Garden in Boston. But memories of a Game 7 collapse against the Bruins in last seasons playoffs may take longer to forget. For Reimer, the post-season ended facedown in his crease after Patrice Bergeron scored at 6:05 of overtime to cap a miraculous 5-4 recovery for a Bruins team that trailed 4-1 some nine minutes into the third period. Back in the post-season after a nine-year absence, Toronto had clawed its way back from a 3-1 series deficit only to see the first-round comeback crash and burn. It was painful for players and fans alike. "That hockey game will haunt me until the day I die," winger Joffrey Lupul tweeted the next day. Reimer, who has been sharing goaltending duties with Jonathan Bernier this season, gets a chance to write some new memories in Beantown on Saturday. "It means something, but I dont think its as big a deal as Im sure people are making it out to be," Reimer said after the morning skate Friday. "If we win there (Saturday) it doesnt reverse what happened last year. If we play them in the first round of the playoffs again, then maybe you can say theres more of a story there. But its a regular-season game. "Obviously theres a history there and you want to play well and you want to win. But the main thing is the two points." Toronto (11-5-0) can also take solace from the fact that it arrives in Boston with a slightly better record than the Bruins (9-5-1). The return to Boston holds no surprises for Toronto coach Randy Carlyle. "We know that we can and we have proven to ourselves we can go in and compete with the Boston Bruins," he said. "Simple as that." "We think we can go into any building and compete with any team as long as we stick to the game plan and execute," echoed centre Nazem Kadri. Leafs forward Jay McClement looked to take something positive from the playoff loss. "Our goal is to not worry about it, but our goal is to get in to that situation again and handle it better," he said. Plus the Leafs have other things to think about, he suggested. "We want to get our game back to where it should be," McClement said. "Its not really something thats been brought up around here." Kadri said most of the memories had faded. "It was a little tough before the season started and kind of waiting all summer and just having to deal with it," he said. "Now that the seasons started and were kind of 15, 16 games into it, I think a lot of guys have forgotten about it. "Its still in the back of your head," he conceded, however. Reimer says the Boston meltdown can be used as motivation, although he insisted he was over it. "Its just a memory, its just something that happened in the past," he said. "Ive got lots of memories. Its just something you learn from. Its something you use to help you in every game, in every situation so far. Is it still there? Yeah. But its not a negative any more." "Its something that happened, but its not at the forefront of your thoughts at all," he added. Reimer, who had the night off Friday after Bernier started a 2-1 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils, arrives in fine form. He has a 4-1-0 record with 2.36 goals-against average and .942 save percentage despite facing a nightly barrage of shots. He made 43 saves last time out, some of the highlight-reel variety, losing 4-0 in Vancouver in a game that was not as close at the score indicated. It marked the 13th time in 15 games that Toronto has been outshot. Prior to that, he blanked the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 in another 43-save performance that marked his 11th career shutout and stopped 37 shots en route to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. . Wallace played in 58 games in his first season with the Celtics before the operations on Tuesday. The 13-year veteran averaged 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 24.4 minutes after coming from Brooklyn as part of the deal that sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets. Neymar, Oscar, Ramires, Willian, David Luiz, Thiago Silva and Hulk made the list of foreign-based players as expected, but former stars Kaka and Robinho were left out by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. . -- Russ Smith really didnt care about being top scorer in his home finale with Louisville because passing to open teammates was the better choice. Smith scored two goals, and Tuukka Rask made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season to lift the Boston Bruins to a 5-0 rout of the Ottawa Senators on Friday night.BOSTON -- Charlottes Al Jefferson got his usual nice round of applause from Boston fans during pregame introductions. Then he showed why they liked him so much when he wore green. Jefferson was a tough matchup for Bostons inside players, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to an 89-83 win Wednesday night that snapped the Celtics four-game winning streak. In his second game back after missing five straight with a bruised right ankle, Bostons 2004 first-round pick helped Charlotte hold off a few late charges by the Celtics. Jefferson, who was taken 15th overall by the Celtics and played three seasons in Boston, was part of the deal in the summer of 2007 that brought Kevin Garnett to the Celtics from Minnesota. "Hes an elite low-post scorer and hes a much, much better defender than I had realized," Bobcats first-year coach Steve Clifford said of Jefferson. "But the thing thats coming through now as you watch him is his competitiveness. He badly wants to win." Gerald Henderson had 13 points, Jeff Taylor 12 and Anthony Tolliver had 11 for Charlotte, which ended a two-game skid. Jefferson said it was the first time hes been on a team that beat the Celtics. "A long time coming," he said. "Been so close many times." Jefferson feels like hes just getting his game back after being sidelined. "I still missed a lot of shots I normally would make," he said of his 8-for-17 shooting. "Ive got to get in better shape. I know theres a reason that Im not in top shape. Thats the only bad thing about getting hurt in the beginning of the year." Jeff Green paced Boston with 19 points and Jordan Crawford had 16 points and six assists. "We made some runs, but I never felt like that game -- you sit over there and Ive been through not a lot of NBA games, but a lot of basketball games, and there are certain games where you feel like the other team has got you in a little bit of a stranglehold," Boston first-year coach Brad Stevens said. "Thats the way it was. They had their way for most of the night." Both teams were without key big men. Celtics forward Jared Sullinger was out with a bruised right knee and Bobcats forward Josh McRoberts missed the game for personal reasons. Hes expected to play Friday when Charlotte is at Cleveland. It was Cliffords second game back after having two stents placed in his heart llast week.dddddddddddd One of the biggest ovations of the night came when free-agent first baseman Mike Napoli, a member of the 2013 World Series champion Red Sox, was shown on the Jumbotron in the opening quarter. He was seated at courtside, left at halftime and returned late in the third quarter to another nice hand from the fans seated nearby. The Bobcats led 71-64 after three quarters. Boston twice closed it to three midway into the fourth before Tolliver nailed a shot-clock beating 3 with 5:37 to play. Neither team scored for the next 2 minutes before Jeffersons short jumper pushed the Bobcats ahead by six with 2:36 left. Green then converted a three-point play, getting Boston within 85-80 with 1:26 to go, but the Celtics struggled to score after missing 12 of their first 16 shots in the final quarter. Crawfords three-point play closed it to 85-83 with 32.5 seconds left, but Jefferson had a putback off Kemba Walkers miss to seal it. But Crawford felt like the Bobcats just played harder for most of the night. "They beat us with effort. They beat us to all the loose balls and rebounds," he said. "Its not really (a game) to throw away. Its one to look at to see where we can get better. We just started off slow and couldnt get any loose balls." Charlotte led 51-43 at halftime. The start of the third quarter was filled with whistles and sloppy play, taking away any energy from the crowd. Boston narrowed its deficit to 67-64 late in the third before the Bobcats scored the final four points. In the fourth quarter, Napoli was selected as the "fan of the game," getting another loud ovation. The Bobcats opened the second quarter with a 12-2 run, pulling ahead 39-23 on Taylors two free throws 4 1/2 minutes into the period. After shooting over 60 per cent in the first quarter (61.1), Charlotte made just 28 per cent (7 of 25) in the second. NOTES: Stevens said Sullinger is day-to-day. He had an MRI on Tuesday. The former Butler coach said he watched "very little" of the college doubleheader Tuesday night that featured some of the top players in the country when four of the top five of the APs Top 25 were in action. ... Napoli said, "No, not yet" when asked if hes heard from the Red Sox about a contract offer while he was seated and signing autographs during a timeout in the third quarter. cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
