HALIFAX -- Zachary Fucale stopped 33 shots through regulation and overtime and 10 more in the shootout as the Halifax Mooseheads edged the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. Rookie defenceman Jesse Lussier scored the shootout winner for the Mooseheads (3-3-0), who have won back-to-back contests after dropping three of four games to start the season, while Andrew Ryan recorded his fourth goal of the campaign. Denis Gorbunov supplied the offence for the Drakkar (2-2-2), who have lost four times already this season by just one goal. Simon Lemieux turned away 31 shots in a losing cause. The game started off chippy as six fighting majors were handed out in the opening 20 minutes. Halifax outshot the Drakkar 13-7 and Ryan found the back of the net at 10:20 while on the power play to give the Mooseheads a 1-0 lead heading into the second period. The second was just as rough, which led to both clubs getting chances on the power play. But, Fucale and Simon held their ground and it remained a one-goal game after 40 minutes. Gorbunov finally got to Fucale when he beat him at 6:32 of the third period to tie the game 1-1. After Fucale and Simon combined to stop the first 19 shooters in the shootout, Lussier beat Simon in the tenth round. The teams combined for 98 minutes in penalties, including 13 majors. Halifax went 1 for 6 on the power play while Baie-Comeau failed to score on four chances with the man advantage. --- Voltigeurs 4 Wildcats 1 DRUMMONDVILLE, Que., -- Guillaume Gauthier scored two goals and added an assist as the Voltigeurs defeated Moncton. Joey Ratelle had a goal and an assist for Drummondville (4-1-0) while Sergei Boikov scored his first QMJHL goal to round out the offence. Christophe Lalonde replied for the Wildcats (2-4-0). Louis-Philip Guindon made 25 saves for the win as Alex Dubeau stopped 19 shots in defeat. --- Huskies 5 Tigres 2 ROUYN-NORANDA, Que., -- Mathieu Lemay scored twice in the third period, including the winner, as the Huskies downed Victoriaville. Dillon Fournier, Maxime St-Cyr and Quinn OBrien also scored for Rouyn-Noranda (3-3-1) while Alexandre Belanger turned away 26 shots for the win. Carl-Antoine Delisle supplied all the offence for the Tigres (4-2-0) as Brandon Whitney made 24 saves in a losing cause. --- Screaming Eagles 5 Titan 2 BATHURST, N.B., -- Maxime Lagace made 36 saves, including 16 in the third period, and Kyle Farrell had two goals as Cape Breton beat the Titan. Clark Bishop, Cameron Darcy and Jeremy Beaudry each had a goal and an assist for the Screaming Eagles (3-2-1) while Justin Hache chipped in two assists. Alexandros Soumakis and Adam Stevens scored for Acadie-Bathurst (3-4-0) and Mason McDonald stopped 38-of-42 shots in defeat. --- Sea Dogs 4 Phoenix 1 SAINT JOHN, N.B., -- Special teams were a factor as the Sea Dogs scored three power-play goals en route to defeating Sherbrooke. Olivier LeBlanc, Matthew Highmore and Nathan Noel scored with the man advantage for Saint John (3-2-1) and LeBlanc tacked on two assists for a three-point outing. Mackenzie Brown rounded out the offence for the Sea Dogs with an even-strength goal and Sebastien Auger made 32 saves for the win. Tim Wieser scored for the Phoenix (1-5-0) while Gabriel Parent stopped 20 shots in a losing effort. --- Olympiques 4 Cataractes 1 GATINEAU, Que., -- Vaclav Karabacek scored once and set up two more as the Olympiques downed Shawinigan. Alex Dostie had two goals for Gatineau (4-2-0) while Marc-Olivier Brouillard scored once. Anthony Brodeur made 16 saves for the victory. Anthony Beauvillier scored for Shawinigan (0-6-1), which remains the only club in the QMJHL without a win. Storm Phaneuf took the loss after allowing two goals on five shots. Marvin Cupper replaced Phaneuf at 8:43 of the first period and stopped 35-of-37 shots in relief. --- Foreurs 11 Remparts 2 QUEBEC CITY -- Anthony Mantha had four goals and five points as Val-dOr crushed the Remparts. Julien Gauthier and Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant had two goals and an assist apiece for the Foreurs (3-4-0) and Guillame Gelinas scored once and set up three more. Anthony Beauregard and Timotej Sille each had a goal and an assist to round out Val-dOrs offence and Louick Marcotte chipped in with four assists. Anthony Duclair and Brent Turnbull scored for Quebec (1-3-2). Francois Tremblay made 21 saves for the win while Callum Booth picked up the loss after allowing three goals on 15 shots.
