KITCHENER, Ont. - Renee Sonnenberg battled back from an early deficit and advanced to the Page playoffs at the 2013 Capital One Road to the Roar Olympic pre-trial tournament with a 10-7 win over Cathy Auld in the B-event final on Friday. After giving up a steal two in the fifth and falling behind 6-3, Sonnenberg drew the four foot for the single in six to start her comeback. Ahead by one in the 10th, Sonnenberg clogged up the four-foot, leaving Auld a difficult shot to tie. Aulds rock rolled too far, giving the team from Grande Prairie, Alta., two more points and the victory. Sonnenberg will now meet A-event winner Kelly Scott of Kelowna, B.C., in the Page playoff A-B game on Saturday. The winner will be guaranteed one of the two remaining womens spots at next months Olympic trials in Winnipeg. "We were getting beat," Sonnenberg said after the game. "We had to take some risks. And it kind of worked brilliantly for us because we were going to lose if we didnt do something. So we finished up incredibly strong." "We made some more precise draws and put more pressure on them," she said. "The first three quarters of the game we were chasing them a lot. The Panthers couldnt answer, failing to score in the second half. The 49ers took a 13-10 lead into the locker room after Vernon Davis caught a 1-yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone from Kaepernick with 5 seconds left in the first half. Davis was initially ruled out of the end zone on a play where 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh raced on to the field, drawing a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Harbaugh said he wasnt disputing the catch, but rather that the play clock continued to run after the play. All turned out fine for the 49ers though, as officials overturned the call ruling Davis dragged his left foot and scored. Television replays showed the 49ers had 12 men in the huddle with backup tight end Vance McDonald racing to the sidelines before the ball was snapped. Referee Carl Cheffers defended the call telling a pool reporter the ball hadnt been spotted -- although Fox television replays seem to indicate otherwise. Carolina spotted San Francisco a 6-0 lead with two defensive penalties -- an unnecessary roughness on safety Mike Mitchell and a headbutt on cornerback Captain Munnerlyn -- leading to field goals.
