EDMONTON -- Walk into the Edmonton Eskimos dressing room, and odds are the first voice one will hear is that of receiver Adarius Bowman. The six-foot-three, 223-pound slotback, who missed the first nine games with a knee injury, has been an infectious jolt of energy in the room and on the field since he returned to the Eskimo roster three games ago. Watch the Toronto Argonauts vs. Edmonton Eskimos live tonight on TSN and TSN Mobile TV at 9pm et/6pm pt. The game can also be heard exclusively on TSN.ca/Toronto. Two of those games were wins, making the 28-year-old out of Oklahoma State the only Eskimo starter with a winning record this year. As the 3-9 Eskimos put their modest two-game win streak on the line Saturday evening against the 8-4 Toronto Argonauts -- who are on a three-game winning run, all on the road -- Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly says Bowmans return has been huge. "Not just physically in what challenges he presents to defences on the field, which is his size and speed and ability," Reilly said Friday, "but his mental side of the game, the energy that he brings. "You can probably hear him right now in the room; the guy brings a ton of energy. He brings that into the huddle and its not fake, its genuine. When you get to know Adarius you know its not just for show, its not just for people to hear him, its truly how he feels about the game and that passion kind of bleeds over to everybody else. "So what he brings to our offence I dont think you can really measure it." In the three games since his return Bowman has caught 16 passes, including two clutch second-down receptions, for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Fred Stamps, the leading receiver in the CFL this season, smiles when asks what Bowmans return has meant. "Oh man, Adarius coming back was a big addition to our offence," he said. "He can do so many things and once he has the ball in his hands, hes awesome running with the ball. Hes a high energy guy, makes our offence so much better. All our receivers are doing well, but since AD came back it just gives our offence that little bit more energy that we need." For his part Bowman, who has 65 yards after his catches, downplays his impact but admits that while sitting out was frustrating, it also gave him a chance to get a new look at the game. "I wouldnt say the fact of me sitting out was an advantage, but I learned some advantages from a lot of visual work on the field, got to do a lot of seeing rather than physical work so my mental aspect of the game got a lot better," he said after Fridays walk-through. "So I feel theres a small advantage there." Plus, hes fresh, his body is healthy and the knee is not presenting any issues. "No worries about anything," he said. "The biggest thing is waiting on the next game." That game is the rematch with the Argos, who beat Edmonton 36-33 in Toronto in a mid-August game that had nearly 1,300 yards total offence. The Argos can wrap up a playoff berth with a win while the Eskimos could pull into a tie with Montreal for a potential cross-over playoff spot. Bowman didnt play in that game and Edmonton coach Kavis Reed is hoping he can swing the outcome with his injection of energy, enthusiasm and confidence. "The way he presents himself on and off the field is absolutely one of confidence, one that says were going to overcome," said Reed. "So hes very important from a physical perspective, but the intangible perspective is immeasurable. When he came back to practice you could see the difference in the team knowing that Adarius, a big play maker, would soon be available to us." http://www.hockeydevi... . Philadelphia is 2-0 against the Senators this season and scored five goals in each victory. The Flyers recorded a 5-0 win in Ottawa on Nov. 12 and then earned a 5-2 home decision on Nov. 19. The Flyers have claimed three straight and four of the last five encounters with the Sens overall and Philly has won two in a row and three of its past four tests in Canadas capital city. Instead of dwelling on the negative, Oates focused on what was good about the clubs recent play. It worked. Scott Stevens Jersey . The Masters champion and winner of last weeks Australian PGA has a three-round total of 14-under 199 at Royal Melbourne. "Im in a really good position for tomorrow," Scott said. You knew it was going to catch up to them but you just didnt know when. Im relating the reality of the slow starts in games by the Toronto Argonauts and how it had to stop as you cant always depend on fourth quarter comebacks and game-winning drives. The Argos have had an excellent year. At 9-4, they control the East and, unless they implode, should have the East Final at home. Thats a major advantage but they need Ricky Ray back. Zack Collaros has been entertaining and exciting and has established himself as a player in this league. But he is not Ricky Ray. Henry Burris completed his first seven passes and created an early lead. As important as it is to have come-from-behind skills, it is just as important to have create-a-lead skills and Ray has both. Getting a team ready to play is a process and takes a week. Why the Argos dont begin games better is a mystery but I do know what it takes: perfect preparation, emotional intensity and the combination of the two creates a unique and genuine level of focus. But the key factor is it has to be everybody; not just the starters but all 42 that dress for the game. In some ways, when the ball is kicked off, the vast majority of the work for coaches is over. But for the player, the important part has begun; seeing if your preparation and emotional intensity which creates your focus is there. This is by no means heavy psychological stuff, quite the opposite. It is easy to master if youre aware and make the effort over and over again. The Argos are a very good team that can be great if they would start games fast and hard and finish the same way. In Saskatchewan, it is a brand new season. The 31-17 win over the B.C. Lions breaks a four-game losing cycle and makes those four games complete history. And what is even more important is that it puts the Riders in second place and re-energizes the fact they still can host the 101st Grey Cup at home come November 24th. Im not sure about the trade. Patrick Neufeld is going to have a long career in CFL football but Alex Hall could be gone by next season. I know in other sports you "rent a player&quoot; for a block of time and it works but I am not sure it works in football.dddddddddddd One is Canadian, one is American. There are countless football players of quality in the United States. In Canada, sometimes I think I can count them. I realize offensive line depth is a strength for Saskatchewan but Im still not sure who will win this deal as time moves on. The last two games on Saturday were painful to watch. Montreal took apart the Eskimos and Calgary did the same to the Blue Bombers. On the positive side, Mike Reilly played, survived and will play again. Im happy about that because the Montreal defence is intimidating. To me, Kyries Herbert and Chip Cox are the best two defensive players on the field at the same time on any team. You add Shea Emry and an excellent player in Mike Edem and the Alouettes can steal playoff games because of the hitting ability on that side of the field alone. The Calgary Stampeder are a complete team. In just about ever aspect of football, Calgary is as good or better than any team. One of their least recognized performers is kicker Rene Paredes. He has made almost every field goal that you can make and by doing so, either wins the close games or keeps the games close. You cant underrate his value. Lets be honest, with four games left in the regular season, Winnipeg and Edmonton are building for 2014. I realize it is not over until its over mathematically but the lack of energy expressed by both teams on Saturday was distressing. Not all players but for some, it came accross as a practice game, not a regular season battle. With four games left, teams are looking to host at least one game at home in the playoffs. During the regular season, home field is not as big an advantage as you might think. It is an advantage, but in an eight-team league, its not always a game-changer. In the playoffs? Oh yes! In the West, first place is no guarantee but the energy of playing at home in the Semi-Final, Final or Grey Cup Game is a feeling you never forget. The next four games mean everything to give yourself the best possible chance to win it all.
