BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Lewis Hamilton of McLaren will start from pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix after winning Saturdays qualifying session ahead of Romain Grosjean and world champion Sebastian Vettel. Robert Griffin III Womens Jersey . Hamilton clocked 1 minute 20.953 seconds to put .413 seconds between himself and Lotus driver Grosjean, who achieved his first front-row start of the season for Sundays race. Red Bulls Vettel finished in 1:21.416, just ahead of Hamiltons teammate Jenson Button. "Its been a really positive weekend so far," said Hamilton, who was fastest in Fridays two practice sessions and second behind Mark Webber of Red Bull in Saturdays morning practice. "Still, we have a very long race tomorrow so lots can happen, but we just need to keep our cool." It was the third pole of the season and third pole at the Hungaroring, too, for Hamilton, who has one victory in 2012 and is fifth in the standings. "Its the same as everyone else when they win races," Hamilton said when asked about the secrets to his success in Hungary. "You just have to keep your head cool and make sure you look after your tires. Tire strategy is going to be important." It was the 150th pole position for McLaren, which contested its first Formula One race in 1966. The team has dominated at the Hungaroring in recent years, winning five of the last seven events. Hamilton triumphed here in 2007 and 2009, while Button -- who won his first race here in 2005 while racing for Honda -- is the defending champion on the famously winding Hungarian circuit, where passing is difficult. World championship leader Fernando Alonso of Ferrari was sixth, behind Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen. "We were expecting a very difficult qualifying and so it was," said Alonso, winner of two of the last three races. "All things considered, sixth place is not to be sneered at, far from it. Its true that overtaking is not easy here, but tomorrow it might rain and we know that can change everything." Rounding out the top ten on the starting grid were Ferraris Felipe Massa, the Williams duo of Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna, and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India. Alonso has 154 points after 10 of 20 races, 34 ahead of Webber, who will start from 11th place. Vettel is 44 points behind the Ferrari driver. Grosjean, a Formula One newcomer, was thrilled about beating Vettel for second place on the grid just as the checkered flag came down to mark the end of qualifying. "Being here on the front row is something special ... we know overtaking is very difficult," Grosjean said. "Well need to start from the front, weve said that for a long time, so first job done." Vettel, the two-time defending champion, was confident about achieving a good result on Sunday. "With the progress we made since this morning and through qualifying, I think we should be in a good position tomorrow for the race," Vettel said. "The car is quick and sometimes really quick but its a bit difficult to get it out of the car all the time." Michael Schumacher, a four-time winner in Hungary, had a disappointing run in his Mercedes and will start from 17th place, his second-worst qualifying spot so far this season. EDMONTON -- New Edmonton Oilers coach Ralph Krueger promised a plan to get inside the heads of his young scoring phenoms to keep them loose and make them believe. "We are not going to be focusing on winning, winning, winning to the point that it suffocates us and we squeeze our sticks," Krueger, the Oilers associate coach last year, told a news conference to announce his promotion Wednesday. "We have skill in our room thats so exciting and I need to find ways that their instincts can play freely. We want to be known as a hard-working team on and off the ice, a very disciplined team. And then, naturally, the winning will come as a byproduct of that." The Oilers signed Krueger to a three-year deal. He replaces Tom Renney, who was let go as the teams 10th head coach last month. Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said he was impressed by Kruegers work on the Oilers power play last season (taking it from 27th to third overall) and Kruegers transformation of the Swiss hockey program. From 1997 to 2010, Krueger coached the Swiss National Team program, taking it from 15th to seventh in the IIHF World Rankings. Tambellini said it was Switzerlands stunning 2-0 win over Team Canada at the 2006 Olympics that impressed him. Krueger, he added, had found a way to take a young team and make it believe, truly believe, it could beat the mighty Canucks. "For hockey that was an incredible moment, but I know why that happened," said Tambellini. "When you speak to the people that work with Ralph, when you speak to the players who have played with him, they talk about leadership, they talk about clarity, they talk about motivation." Tambellini said Krueger has not only mastered the Xs and Os, he is "someone that matches the energy of what this group has now and where wee want it to go, who could communicate and motivate and inspire. Robert Griffin III Elite Jersey. " Besides coaching, the 52-year-old Krueger is also a motivational speaker and author of the book "Teamlife -- Over Setbacks to Success." Fielding questions from reporters, Krueger spoke of discovering the potential in each of his players and finding ways to get veterans to accept changing roles. When asked if he felt "surreal" to finally land his first head-coaching job in the NHL, he said no. It happened, he suggested, because hed prepared for it to happen. "Its been a natural, healthy 23 years of growth as a coach and Im ready for this situation," said the native of Steinbach, Man. Krueger has his work cut out for him. The Oilers have finished last, last, and second-last in the last three years in the NHL while the coaching position has become a carousel. Krueger is the teams fourth head coach since 2009. The Oilers have not made the playoffs since 2006 and have missed the post-season in 12 of their last 19 campaigns. The weaknesses are many, notably a poor defence, inconsistent effort from veterans, and young players simply overwhelmed at times with life in the NHL pressure cooker. But that lack of success has brought highlight-reel talent to the forward ranks, including Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, and this years No. 1 overall pick Nail Yakupov. Krueger said hes still evaluating the team but stressed there are no absolutes. If the best fit for the squad is to move the kids around, he will. "Nail may be playing on the left (wing) side, not only the right. Taylor possibly in the middle," he said. "These are things were excited about experimenting with as we find the best possible combination for the team." ' ' '
