NEW YORK -- The NFL went public Monday with some of its evidence against the four players suspended for their roles in the New Orleans Saints bounty program. Among the things the league revealed: a prize of US$35,000 or more for knocking Brett Favre out of the NFC championship game in January 2010. The league also displayed a computer slide it obtained from the Saints, dating from before a playoff game against Seattle the following season, showing photos of three Seahawks with "Now its time to do our job. Collect bounty $$$!. No apologies. Lets go hunting" printed on it. The evidence included hand-written notes, documents from the Saints computer system and witness testimony. The initial complaint that sparked the investigation back in 2010 came from then-Minnesota coach Brad Childress, who heard of a bounty on Favre in the championship game from a player. NFL lead counsel Jeff Pash showed reporters the material at the end of a day when the suspended players -- Will Smith, Anthony Hargrove, Scott Fujita and Jonathan Vilma -- each attended appeals hearings with commissioner Roger Goodell at NFL headquarters in Manhattan. The players and their union objected to the process, saying it was unfair. The league then showed reporters copies of documents and a video from its investigation -- the same presentation the NFL earlier made to the players. One document showed linebacker Vilma offering "two five-stacks," or $10,000, to knock out Favre in the title game, which the Saints won, leading to their Super Bowl victory over Indianapolis in February 2010. The NFL said several people, including Saints coaches, confirmed Vilmas offer. Vilma left his session after about an hour Monday morning. When that hearing was adjourned until early afternoon, both Vilma and lawyer Peter Ginsberg vowed he would not return. He didnt. Ginsberg called the hearing "a sham" and said Goodell failed to present the evidence on which he based his decision to impose Vilmas penalty. "Roger Goodell has taken three months to tear down what I built over eight years. Its tough to swallow. I have been linked to a bounty and it simply is not true," said Vilma, who also is suing the commissioner for defamation. "I dont know how I can get a fair process when he is the judge, jury and executioner. Youre assuming it will be fair, but its not." Smith, suspended for four games; Hargrove, now with Green Bay and docked eight games; and Fujita, now with Cleveland and suspended three games, all made the afternoon session. Fujita said nothing was accomplished. "The NFLs investigation has been highlighted by sensationalized headlines and unsubstantiated leaks to the media. I have yet to see anything that implicates me ... not in the last three months and not today," Fujita said. "The NFL has been careless and irresponsible, and at some time will have to provide answers." Pash believes plenty of answers were provided to the players before Mondays hearing and during it. He said Goodell will "hold the record open" until at least the end of Friday for the players to respond to the evidence. "We offered the attorneys and players opportunities to comment and they declined to do so," Pash said. Locker threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns in his home debut as Tennessees starting quarterback, and the Titans beat the Cardinals 32-27 on Thursday night. Tennessee named Locker, the eighth overall draft pick in 2011, their starter for the season on Monday. Skelton said Young got beaten along with some of his teammates on some of the plays. "Its frustrating getting out of the game that early and seeing the offence get into a flow," Skelton said. "But youve just got to make the most of your opportunities, and tonight I dont feel I did everything I could have." Arizona trailed 17-3 and had only 69 yards offence until Kolb found Larry Fitzgerald on a 53-yard pass to start an 86-yard drive capped with his 3-yard TD pass to Andre Roberts. Wimbley sacked Kolb on his first offensive play. Kolb finished 17 of 22 for 156 yards with a TD but two interceptions -- both by McCarthy, the second-year middle linebacker out of Miami. McCarthy picked off a pass by Kolb late in the second quarter and intercepted Kolbs first pass 14 seconds into the third quarter that he ran back untouched for a TD. Locker overthrew a couple of receivers, including 6-foot-5 tight end Jared Cook who stretched out for a nice 35-yard catch he could have taken for a TD if thrown better. He found Nate Washington on a crossing route for a 28-yard TD pass in an 80-yard drive he helped keep by scrambling twice for 11 yards. The young quarterback said they have to get better on first down and convert more third downs after the Titans converted 3 of 13. Titans quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains was a bit easier on Locker, saying he did a nice job managing the huddle and the sideline. "He knew exactly what the defence was doing and was able to communicate that to me and the receivers and tight ends," Loggains said. The second-year pro might have gotten a big assist from the replacement refs in the second half. Locker didnt get into the game for his final drive until midway through the third, and the refs ruled a pass incomplete that looked like a lateral the Titans were lucky enough to see bounce out of bounds.
