COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- The Colorado Rapids have traded forward Omar Cummings to the Houston Dynamo for midfielder Nathan Sturgis and allocation money. The 30-year-old Cummings had scored 39 regular-season goals since joining the Rapids and had 14 as Colorado won the league title in 2010. He has seven goals in 28 appearances with Jamaicas national team. After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2009, Colorado has allowed Conor Casey to leave for Philadelphia and acquired Edson Buddle from Los Angeles. Sturgis, 25, has been with Los Angeles (2006-07), Real Salt Lake (2007-08), Seattle (2009-10) and Toronto (2011) in addition to Houston. Trying his best to adjust his approach toward his least favourite track, Hamlins reignited courtship produced fantastic results Saturday when he turned a lap of 256.367 km/h to win the pole at Dover International Speedway. Hamlin has been open in his disdain for the one-mile concrete oval and knew hed have to conquer his Dover demons to keep his driven bid for his first career Cup championship rolling along. Hamlin, third in the points standings, turned to a sports psychologist for advice. The message for Hamlin was this, "Let your challenge for the week be to fall in love with this track." Hamlin says the good karma, and a great No. 11 Toyota, all played a part in the turnaround. "I think that right now we have everything rolling," Hamlin said.
