SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- David Akers and Billy Cundiff were taking their competition to be San Franciscos playoff kicker to Candlestick Park on Monday. Coach Jim Harbaugh said theres a "good chance" both kickers will be on the roster for Saturdays NFC divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, though he didnt specify whether each would be among the 46 active players but did say "thats conceivable." Harbaugh indicated one of the two has already earned a lead for the job but wouldnt say who it is. The 49ers (11-4-1) signed Cundiff on Jan. 1 to compete for a job with the struggling veteran Akers, who has made just 29 of 42 field goals this season after connecting on 44 of 52 in 2011. "No, not a resolution. We have a leader in the clubhouse," Harbaugh said as his players returned to work after taking the weekend off. "Well see how it goes today and tomorrow. Its been good competition. Were working through it." Cundiff missed a potential tying 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the AFC championship game that sent New England to the Super Bowl last season instead of the Baltimore Ravens, coached by Harbaughs big brother, John. Harbaugh said he has no timetable for when to name a starting kicker. The leader emerged from two practice sessions last week. "It will predominantly be based on how theyre kicking now," Harbaugh said. "I think theres a good chance theyll both be on the roster come Saturday." Akers missed overtime kicks twice against the Rams this season, with the 49ers losing at St. Louis and tying at home. In a 27-13 victory against Arizona in the regular-season finale Dec. 30, Akers missed wide left on kicks from 44 and 40 yards and got booed by the sellout home crowd. The 15th-year pro also had a 21-yard attempt blocked by Red Bryant in a 42-13 loss at Seattle on Dec. 23, and Richard Sherman returned it 90 yards for a touchdown. Yet Akers has made at least one field goal in 33 consecutive games, the second-longest such streak in NFL history. Cundiff was released by the Washington Redskins on Oct. 9 after missing five of his 12 field goal attempts. The journeyman Cundiff joins his sixth team in 10 NFL seasons. He has also played for Dallas, New Orleans and Cleveland. Punter Andy Lee, who is the holder on field goals, has long supported Akers in the good moments and also through the missed field goals. Now, he must put his personal feelings aside. "Ive got to do my job, because I know if other things were going on and somebody could affect the way I play, I wouldnt want that happening," Lee said. "So Ive just got to swallow everything I have inside me and go out and do whatever I can to help each guy the best I can." wholesale jerseys from china . -- Wesley Matthews scored 21 points, J. cheap nfl jerseys . "Its only fitting that the day took pretty long," a relieved Volstad said Sunday after pitching the Chicago Cubs to a 5-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. The start of the game was delayed 2 hours, 23 minutes by rain, and there was another weather interruption of 30 minutes after the eighth inning before the game was called. http://www.chinanfljerseyswholesal... . Then linebacker Lawrence Timmons provided a reminder that -- Ben Roethlisberger or no Ben Roethlisberger -- Pittsburghs identity begins and ends with defence. Steven Gerrard made his 600th appearance for Liverpool but was overshadowed at Anfield by Suarez, who produced a wonderful piece of skill to bring down a raking pass on his chest and round the goalkeeper in one movement to earn his team a deserved point in the 67th minute. wholesale nfl jerseys . Jamal Crawford led a fourth-quarter rally with 13 of his 21 points, and Los Angeles beat Phoenix 117-99 on Saturday, winning its fifth in a row while sending the Suns to their season-worst sixth straight loss. VALENCIA, Spain -- Cesc Fabregas scored for the fourth straight game to salvage a 2-2 draw for Barcelona at Valencia as the defending champions avoided defeat on a night when top rival Real Madrid was held 0-0 at Racing Santander. Lionel Messi continued his prolific partnership with the former Arsenal player by setting him up for the 77th-minute equalizer as the Catalans twice rallied from deficits. While Barcelona salvaged a point, Madrid staggered to a lacklustre result on the Cantabrian coast, marking the first time the Spanish powerhouse has played consecutive league games without a win since the arrival of coach Jose Mourinho. Madrid showed little improvement from its 1-0 loss to Levante on Sunday despite a revamped lineup, and failed to create a single clear scoring chance before halftime. "At the end, the points are all that matters and we have let five points slip away from home. It is worrying, yes," Mourinho said. "In the first half we didnt play much. In the second half we did reach the opponents territory, but we didnt have many chances to score." It was Barcelonas third 2-2 draw in the last two weeks, but this time it came away with relief rather than disappointment at having a lead slip away. "They had a great first part, we were better in the second, but we just lacked scoring that third goal," Fabregas said. "I just want to help the team, that is the important thing. The truth is that right now we are not interested in Madrid." Valencia remained the overnight leader with 10 points, one better than Real Betis and Malaga, which beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 thanks to Santi Cazorlas exquisite second-half free kick. Bilbao has now lost three straight under new coach Marcelo Bielsa. Barcelona has eight points while Madrid is left with seven. Atletico Madrid also has seven after Radamel Falcao continued his impressive start in Spain by scoring a brace to lead the club to a 4-0 victory over winless Sporting Gijon. Real Betis can go top with 12 points with a fourth straight win to start the season Thursday when Zaragoza visits the newly promoted club. With centre back Gerard Pique missing, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola again started in a 3-4-3 formation, and the team again lacked stability in defence.dddddddddddd Fullback Daniel Alves moved up to play as a winger in place of David Villa, as the former Valencia striker started on the bench in his return to the Mestalla stadium. Valencia broke through in the 12th when Roberto Soldado pressured Eric Abidal to deflect Jeremy Mathieus cross into goal, leaving goalkeeper Victor Valdes with no chance. Messis wizardry cued Barcelonas response as the Argentina forward dribbled along the edge of area, drawing several Valencia players before sliding through to Pedro Hernandez to draw the visitors even for the first time. But the lack of bodies in Barcelonas backfield allowed Valencia to spring forward from the flanks and Abidal was caught flat-footed by another Mathieu pass, with the ball getting through to Pablo Hernandez alone inside the area to slot home for 2-1. With Mathieu and Soldado threatening, Guardiola dropped Alves back to his normal role and reverted to a 4-4-2 after the restart. Soldado still had a couple of chances in front of goal but misfired both times. Valencias physical play kept Messi and Fabregas in check, although Mascherano hit the crossbar with a long-range shot in the 69th. But Messi finally broke free to set up Fabregas with his seventh assist of the season, and then nearly set up Villa -- who had come on as a substitute -- for the winner, but Guaita made the save. Valencia finished with 10 men after Jordi Alba was sent off in the dying minutes. In the Spanish capital, Atletico completely outplayed last-place Sporting with Falcao scoring twice in a nine-minute span following an own-goal by Alberto Lora a header from Alvaro Dominguez. The former FC Porto striker has five goals in two games to join Messi and Soldado as joint-leader. Cazorla and Ronaldo are next with four each. "Without a doubt, we have signed a great striker that is going to be on the level of the great scorers in Spain like Messi and Ronaldo," Atletico coach Gregorio Manzano said. Elsewhere, Levante got its second straight with a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano. On Tuesday, Villarreal beat Mallorca 2-0 for its first win of the season. Sevilla drew 0-0 at Osasuna, and Real Sociedad edged Granada 1-0. ' ' '
