Six seconds changed the course of the Green Bay Packers' 2013 season, forcing the team and its loyal fan base to face the harsh reality of life without their franchise quarterback.
In the storied history of Green Bay football, the team has had to turn to its bench many times when a starter went down to injury. This week, Packer Plus reviews five of the most memorable performances by a backup quarterback.
The showdown of 10 1 NFC powers was billed as the veteran gunslinger Brett Favre versus rising star Tony Romo. It ended up being Rodgers against Romo, the Wisconsin native who grew up idolizing Favre.
When Favre injured his shoulder in the second quarter, Rodgers came off the bench to show flashes of his vast future potential before a national television audience.
Rodgers displayed poise and showed he could compete in a marquee game, completing 18 of 26 passes for 201 yards and one touchdown. He also had no interceptions against a formidable Cowboys defense and pass rush. He rallied the Packers from a 27 17 halftime deficit to within, 34 27, with 5 minutes 3 seconds to play before Dallas iced the game with a 25 yard field goal with 1:03 remaining.

A raw unknown backup quarterback ran onto the field after the game's sixth play when starter Don Majkowski went down with torn ligaments when sacked by Cincinnati's nose tackle Tim Krumrie.
Favre had little NFL game experience, throwing just four passes in two games for the Atlanta Falcons in his rookie season and 14 passes for Green Bay in a blowout loss at Tampa Bay in mop up duty a week before the Bengals game.
His performance was not pretty, but when it counted most, Favre delivered. Favre was sacked six times and fumbled four times, losing three. The Packers fumbled seven times, missed two field goals and gave up a 95 yard punt return for a touchdown by Carl Pickens.
Somehow, Cincinnati only led, 23 17, with 1:07 left when Favre and the Packers began their final 92 yard drive with no timeouts. Favre gave Green Bay breathing room with a 42 yard completion to Sterling Sharpe, who aggravated a rib injury while falling awkwardly after making a circus catch.
Sharpe's replacement was Kitrick Taylor, a Plan B free agent who would catch only one touchdown pass in his six year NFL career. It was a game winner.
Favre delivered a 35 yard touchdown bullet that launched a Pro Football Hall of Fame career.

Flynn had a career day against Detroit in the 2011 regular season finale, etching his name in the franchise and NFL record books and setting himself up for a multi million contract in free agency.
With a healthy Rodgers being rested for the playoffs, Flynn started in the game, which meant nothing in the NFC North standings. Green Bay, 14 1, had the division title locked up and wanted to stay sharp for the playoffs while avoiding injuries to key starters.
Flynn and Detroit's Matthew Stafford put on an aerial display, combining to throw for exactly 1,000 yards. Flynn completed 31 of 44 passes for 480 yards to set a franchise record. He threw six touchdown passes with one interception.
It was the first time in NFL history that opposing quarterbacks both threw for more than 400 yards and five touchdowns in a game.
The Lions led, 34 31, after three quarters and, 41 38, with 2:39 remaining in the game before Flynn hit Jermichael Finley with the game winning 4 yard touchdown pass with 1:10 left.

The "Super Sub" Bratkowski was one of the franchise's greatest bargains: Vince Lombardi claimed him off the waiver wire for $100 after the Los Angeles Rams released Bratkowski in the [url=http://www.broncosofficialonlinestore.com/Bradley_Roby_Jersey_Broncos]www.b... middle of the 1963 season.
The return on that modest investment was delivered a thousand fold in the 1965 Western Conference championship showdown against the Baltimore Colts.
Starr was injured on the first play of the game making a tackle after throwing an interception, and Bratkowski played the rest of the game. He engineered a fourth quarter drive that ended with Don Chandler's controversial 22 yard game tying field goal.
The 10 10 game went into overtime, the first in Green Bay history, and was ended by another Chandler field goal from 25 yards at 13:39 of sudden death. Bratkowski was one of several Packer heroes, completing 22 of 39 passes for 248 yards against a talent laden Baltimore defense.
