The Colorado Avalanche signed restricted free agent defenceman Erik Johnson to a four-year, $15 million contract on Tuesday. Johnson, 24, scored four goals and 22 assists in 73 games with the Avs in 2011-12. Originally selected first overall in the 2006 Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues, the Avs acquired Johnson via trade prior to the 2011 trade deadline.
