One of hockeys greatest rivalries resumes Tuesday as Canada faces the United States at the 2012 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. Watch the game live on TSN and TSN Mobile TV starting at 2pm et/11am pt. The game will be crucial in determining who finishes atop Group A. Canada sits with a 2-1 record with their record blemished only by Saturdays 4-2 loss to Finland. The Americans, meanwhile, sit with a perfect 3-0 record heading into the decisive tilt. Captain Matt Dumba has led the charge for Team Canada, contributing three goals and three assists through the first three games of the tournament. Those totals are good for a share of the teams scoring lead with Windsor forward Kerby Rychel. Belleville Bulls centre Brendan Gaunce led the charge in Canadas win over the Czech Republic on Monday with two goals and an assist. However, scoring may not be an easy task against the Americans, who are yet to surrender a goal at the tournament. Both netminders - Jared Rutledge and Collin Olson - have recorded shutouts thus far. Having already blanked Finland and the Czech Republic, Olson is likely to get the start against Canada. The Canadians are expected to counter with Sault Ste. Marie keeper Matt Murray, who has gotten the start in Canadas three previous games. One of the keys for Canada will be staying disciplined. Canada leads the tournament with 22 minor penalties assessed through the first three games. Facing an American team that has converted one-third of its power play chances in the tournament thus far, Canada can ill-afford to give up the man advantage. The U.S. team has won the past three gold medals at the World Under-18s while Canada has failed to win a medal at the competition since winning gold in 2008. The winner of Group A will receive a bye into the semifinals while the second- and third-place teams in the group will be forced to play a cross-over quarterfinal match against qualifiers from Group B. . -- Former NHL player Rob Ramage couldnt convince a parole board Friday to release him to a halfway house but will get another chance to make his case. Tuesday night marked the Toronto Maple Leafs starting goaltenders first game back after missing five straight with a groin injury. . The 32-year-old was placed on waivers by the Leafs on Sunday and cleared Monday. He has three years remaining on a four-year deal worth a $3.875-million average annual value. Messis scoring display was a fitting farewell for the coach who helped the Argentina forward become the worlds best player and forged Barcelona into one of the best teams to have played football. After scoring his Spanish league-record 50th goal late on, Messi went to the sideline to embrace Guardiola, who is leaving after 13 titles in four seasons.MONTREAL - Confidence can be a contagious thing, and it appears as though the Canadiens are starting to gain the confidence back in their game. For the hockey team, it couldnt come at a better time. After a dominating performance on home ice against the Flyers, the Habs went into Beantown and pulled out a big 2-1 victory. Tomas Plekanec had two goals, one into his own net. The unfortunate part for Plekanec on that play was that he actually won the face-off clean. He made amends though by scoring the game winning goal, and Carey Price made amends with several big stops throughout the night. There has been a lot of talk about P.K. Subban and his "third times a charm" dance with Brad Marchand. While the Canadiens need Subban on the ice and cant afford to have him sitting in the box, sometimes every once in a while, you need to take care of things yourself. A coach once told me "You always need to keep them guessing" when it comes to engaging in the rough stuff and dropping the gloves. While Subban by no means needs to become a fighter, which is probably evident by the swing and a miss attempt on the first shot, what it does show is that he took care of business himself. Dont expect a rematch between the two on Saturday night as its over for now and theyll move on. Erik Cole continues to play a strong game and seems to have got his groove going, which is good news for the Canadiens. He is driving the net and leads the team in hits.dddddddddddd All good signs of things the Habs need from him and thats why they signed him. Saturday night at the Bell Centre is now shaping up to be a big game, considering its one the fans have had circled on their calendars in Montreal. Its fitting that the Canadiens slogan for this year is "Rise Together". During the Habs win on Wednesday night over the Flyers, the team seemed to rise together in their play on the ice and it translated into a win. At the same time, the fans were rising from their seats with them in full support, to the point where it was a standing ovation in the final minute of the third period. You can bet the emotional level will be up another notch on Saturday night against the Bruins on the ice as the Habs will look to continue their surge. And no doubt the emotional level for the fans will be high as well with their rivals in town. As the fans showed on Wednesday night against Philly, their support can go a long way, and this game against the Bruins could be seen as the big swing in momentum for the Habs start to the season. If the fans ever wanted to raise the atmosphere at the Bell Centre to a higher level, this Saturday night could be the culmination where the team and fans truly do "Rise Together" and start to erase the slow start to the season.
