Justin Jackson has a habit of overshadowing everything on a football field.
It difficult to remember a time this season when Stevenson football team didn have to deal with some type of adversity. It even tougher to imagine any of it slowing down the Patriots at this point. Playing without two way Michigan State bound standout Matt Morrissey, who pulled a hamstring in practice early in the week, Stevenson still managed to hold on for a 20 16 victory over Glenbard North in Saturday second round Class 8A playoff game in Carol Stream. The Northwestern bound back carried the ball 42 times for 405 yards, shattering his own DVC mark by 50 yards.

Last Friday's rush hour traffic jam epitomized Glenbard West's road grind this football season. It took the Hilltoppers nearly an hour and a half to trek from Glen Ellyn to face unbeaten Oak Park on its homecoming weekend. A 20 14 West Suburban Silver victory made the trip worthwhile, but it's still not easy playing the role of road warrior."It was like the perfect storm," said Glenbard West coach Chad Hetlet. "The traffic, the homecoming environment, they're really good. It was a challenge for us." It was the latest of many road challenges for Glenbard West (5 1, 4 0). Arguably the Hilltoppers' four toughest matchups this season Wheaton Warrenville South, Downers Grove North, Lyons Twp. and Oak Park have been on the road.

Naperville North has a solid "Limit the Damage" strategy for dealing with Glenbard North tailback Justin Jackson. But the theory didn't work as well as it did last year, when Jackson battled for 110 yards in 27 carries. "You know if it's a close game, he's going to get it 40 (times)," said Huskies coach Sean Drendel. "You figure he's going to get his 150 to 200 (yards). You just hope it's not 300." Jackson wound up carrying the ball 43 times for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns as Glenbard North pulled off a 37 28 victory in a wild DuPage Valley Conference opener in Carol Stream.
