ARLINGTON, Texas -- Josh Hamilton knew he finally had to take a break when he got of bed after more than 17 hours and still didnt feel right. The slugger was out of the Texas Rangers lineup Monday night against Seattle because of what the team called an upper respiratory problem. Hamilton said he hasnt felt right for more than a week and called manager Ron Washington when he finally got up earlier in the afternoon before coming to the ballpark. "The last couple of days have been a little weird. Any time youve got inner-ear stuff or sinus stuff or chest stuff, it all goes back to not feeling quite right as far as your equilibrium, just feeling off," Hamilton said. "Just when I got up I still felt off. Called Wash and told him I problem needed a day just to be sure and try to get some more rest." Hamilton, who leads the majors with 20 homers and 53 RBIs in 45 games, said he started feeling bad during a series in Houston that began 10 days earlier. Instead of attending a team charity event Sunday night, Hamilton stayed home and went to bed at 8:15 p.m. He said he "rolled over twice maybe" before getting up at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Washington described Hamilton as "exhausted." Hamilton hit a game-ending homer in the 13th inning Saturday against Toronto, then went 0 for 4 in another day game Sunday. "Throughout the whole game yesterday I was getting oxygen trying to keep my head clear. Itd feel good when I had it on and then Id take it off and go start running around again and it was back to where it was. Just feeling off," he said. "You cant play like that and be productive. Weve got plenty of guys who can jump in there." Craig Gentry played centre field Monday night and David Murphy was in left for the series opener against the Mariners on Monday night. Michael Young was the designated hitter in Hamiltons normal No. 3 spot in the batting order. Hamilton said he has been doing everything he can since the Houston series to get fully healthy, and wasnt sure when he might be back in the lineup. The outfielder started 44 of the previous 48 games this season. He was held out of three games on the artificial turf in Toronto with back stiffness and out of the starting lineup another game, which he finished, during a stretch when Washington was giving all of his regulars a break. "Ive been on about everything I can be on to try and get better quicker. It just seems like its one of those things thats just going to have to run its course," he said. "I think coming back and being in the heat on top of feeling like I do it kind of snowballed on me a little bit. It made it worse than it probably is. "Its just a day at a time," he said. "Obviously Id like to play no matter what but if Im running out there and getting dizzy and stuff I probably dont need to do it." cheap china jerseys . Saturday June 30. Ben Street and Krys Kolanos had the other goals for Abbotsford (16-8-6), while Danny Taylor made 25 saves for the win. Leach, 26, had an 11.74 ERA in three outings, including one start. He wasnt the pitcher of record in any of the three games he pitched in. HOUSTON -- Houstons offence didnt give J.A. Happ much to work with. Good thing he didnt need much help. Happ allowed three hits and struck out six over seven innings and the Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 on Wednesday night for a sweep of the three-game series. "You can do a lot with good pitching," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "What a great job throughout his seven innings. He threw the ball with confidence. His rhythm was good. He got the ball. He threw the ball. It was sure nice to see." Despite having the worst record in baseball (47-90), the Astros have won five of their last seven overall and seven of their last eight at home. Houstons other sweep this season was against the Chicago Cubs May 30-June 1. Happ (5-15) had his second strong outing since returning from triple-A Oklahoma City. He didnt allow a runner past first base and walked one. It was Happs first major league victory since July 19. "Obviously, getting ahead of the hitters helped me tonight," Happ said. "It gave me the confidence to kind of attack a little bit. Putting them on the defensive is what I need to do more of and I think I did that tonight. "Having success is helping and having a little mentality change and being positive out there." James McDonald (8-7), who had won five of his previous seven decisions, pitched six innings, allowed seven hits, two walks and struck out six. In the fourth inning the Astros pieced together two runs on a groundout and an infield hit. Mark Melancon pitched the ninth for his 16th save in 21 opportunities. Jimmy Paredes walked to start the fourth and Angel Sanchez singled, sending Paredes to third. Humberto Quintero hit a dribbler in front of home plate and was thrown out at first with Paredes scoring. Jordan Schafers infield hit toward first base scored Sanchez for a 2-0 lead. Pirates first baseman Garrett Jones made the throw back to McDonald at the plate trying to get Paredes, but it was too late. "The catcher thhrew the ball and he didnt go back," Paredes said.dddddddddddd"I say, Im safe, go home. The catcher threw the ball and he didnt come back. I said, Hes crazy." McDonald tried to make the play. "He was going to slide, and he could have hit my leg," McDonald said. "It was a big play. It wasnt that bad of a throw. If I was a catcher and had gear on, I would have had no problem stepping across and getting that throw." Jones tried to make a quick throw. "I tried to throw and get rid of it quick, and I think James couldnt get his feet set and the throw was up the line a bit," Jones said. "Its a bang-bang play. If there was a throw right on the money, we would have had a better chance to get him. Its tough also for a pitcher to get back there and make that play." Pirates manager Clint Hurdle added that catcher Ryan Doumit made the right choice in going to first base. "Ryan made the right play. We have to be able to execute throwing the ball 90 feet," Hurdle said. "I do think that James might have been caught a little bit off guard. Im not sure if the positioning of the plate is where it needed to be and the throw was off line." Pittsburghs Carlos Lee extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the third and a double off the wall in left in the eighth for a 2-for-4 performance. Lee is hitting .477 (21 for 44) during the streak. Notes: The Pirates traded OF Matt Diaz to Atlanta for a player to be named or cash and sent triple-A OF John Bowker to Philadelphia for a player to be named or cash. Pittsburghs J.D. Martinez has 28 RBIs in August, one short of tying the NL rookie record for August. David Justice (1990) and Todd Helton (1998) currently share the record. The Astros will recall RHP Lucas Harrell to pitch Friday night against Milwaukee. Harrell is pitching in place of Brett Myers, whose wife Kim, is expecting their fourth child. Pirates SS Randy Cedeno had his five-game hitting streak snapped. ' ' '
