Toughened glass is also referred to as "tempered glass" or "fully tempered glass". Toughened Safety Glass is fabricated by heating annealed glass to over 600掳C and cooling it down rapidly. It locks the outer surfaces of the glass in a state of high compression, and the core or center of the glass in compensating tension. It is a safety glass which is used when strength, thermal resistance and safety are all important factors in design. The strength of toughened glass is approximately 5 times stronger than annealed (non-safety) glass of the same thickness. Toughened glass panels including curved toughened glass, clear toughened laminated glass, toughened float glass, clear toughened insulated laminated glass used for windows, stairs, balcony, refrigerator shelf, balustrade, ect. The commonly used thickness is 6mm toughened glass panels, 8mm toughened glass panels, 10mm toughened glass panels, 12mm toughened glass panels, 15mm toughened glass panels, ect.
Feature
high strength
Tempered glass has high strength, 3-5 times that of ordinary annealed glass, and has good bending and impact resistance. It can withstand the surface pressure of 95Mpa.
High security
When the tempered glass is broken, it becomes an obtuse-angled honeycomb particle, which ensures safety and is harmless to the human body. The tempering process greatly reduces the risk of thermal cracking and reduces losses.
Thermal stability
Tempered glass can withstand temperature changes of 250 to 320掳C, while ordinary annealed glass can only withstand 20 to 100掳C.
