ABBOTSFORD, B.C. -- Barry Brust may be in a job-share program this season but hes made the best of every chance hes been given. Brust made 29 saves on Tuesday to preserve the Abbotsford Heats 3-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters in American Hockey League action. It was the 18th shutout in Brusts AHL career and his second of the season. He has allowed just one goal in his three games played this year. He has been sharing the crease with Danny Taylor (seven games) and Leland Irving (two games). "Its a nice feeling," said Brust of his stellar 0.33 goals-against average and 0.987 save percentage. "Its a product more of the way the teams played. Weve got some pretty lucky bounces. The games have been pretty tight, so that always has guys blocking shots and diving in front of pucks a little more. "Its a nice little run and hopefully we can continue it." The 29-year-old goalie has earned the adoration of his teammates not just for his reliability but also his unique aggressive style and his outgoing personality. "Hes been outstanding," said left winger Sven Baertschi. "Its a lot of fun to watch him. Hes a special goalie. Hes doing well. Its always great when you can rely on a great goalie back there. "If you make mistakes he makes sure there arent any goals for them." Brust signed with Abbotsford in the off-season to challenge last years post-season starter (Taylor) and the Calgary Flames top prospect (Irving) for the starting job. Having played for Heat head coach Troy Ward in the past, fitting in the dressing room has been an easy transition. "Theres obviously a familiarity with the coaching staff that Ive had before and it doesnt take me too long usually to get involved with the guys and feel like a big part of the team," said Brust. "As tough as it is having three goalies, its also two other guys that have things in common with you. Them being great people, its been easy to mesh with them." Krys Kolanos scored the winner for Abbotsford (8-1-3) in the second period. Baertschi and captain Quintin Laing added empty-net goals. Kolanos, who fought Tyson Barrie earlier in the second, took a pass from T.J. Brodie and picked the top corner, glove side, for his fourth of the season 12:52 into the period. "He played extremely hard," said Ward. "It was one of the better skating games Krys has had for our team this year. So it was important for Krys. Anytime you have passion and emotion in hockey usually it results in something positive for you. Krys was dialled-in from the get-go." Kolanos now holds Abbotsfords franchise record for career goals with 34, surpassing Cam Cunning. He joined the Heat on a tryout early last season and has since signed a two-way contract with the Calgary Flames. The Heat are now in their fourth season. Abbotsford is tied with the Charlotte Checkers with 19 points for first in the Western Conference, leapfrogging Lake Erie (9-5-0). Sami Aittokallio made 36 saves in net for the Monsters. "If I had to pick a star of the game I would have picked their goalie," said Ward. "He was outstanding, especially low. He was extremely quick. He did give us rebounds but he took away the lower part of the net consistently all night long. My guess is the way theyve rotated their goalies, I dont know if well see him back tomorrow but regardless we need to get to rebounds." Abbotsford outshot Lake Erie 14-9 in the first period but only had one quality scoring chance. Carter Bancks one-timed a pass from Tyler Ruegsegger in the slot but Aittokallio kicked his pad out to make the stop with about four minutes to go in the opening frame. The two got together for another scoring chance just under three minutes into the second period. Carter took a shot on net and the rebound came right to Ruegsegger in front but the Lakewood, Colo., natives shot was stopped by Aittokallio, keeping the game scoreless. The Heat kept up the offensive pressure all period. First, Baertschi was stopped on a breakaway with about eight minutes to go in the frame and then a moment later Abbotsford finally got one past Aittokallio when Kolanos scored. The Monsters best chance to beat Brust was a quick one-timer by Karl Stollery from the slot but the Heats goalie snared the puck with his glove, keeping his shutout bid intact with 10 minutes remaining in the game. ray ban sunglasses discount . Simona de Silvestro may get a chance to find out what she can accomplish in a race car with better equipment. KV Racing Technology said Tuesday it had signed the 24-year-old Swiss driver and will have a two-car operation with Tony Kanaan It will be the first time de Silvestro will have a teammate in IndyCar, where she has spent the last three seasons driving for single-car team HVM Racing. "I think its going to be great having Tony as a teammate," she said. "Its never easy to make a change like this, but Im confident that its the right move for me going forward." She will drive the No. 78 next season with sponsorship from the Nuclear Clean Air Energy campaign, and got her first laps in the car Monday during a test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Her move to KV Racing gives de Silvestro a Chevrolet engine next season after she laboured through 2012 with an underpowered Lotus driving for Keith Wiggins at HVM. The engine situation handcuffed the team all season, and de Silvestro only completed 45 per cent of the laps. "I do want to thank Keith and HVM Racing for helping me gain a ton of experience these last three years," she said. "Eveen though we struggled last year with our engine, I learned a lot.dddddddddddd Now its time to move on and look forward to next season." KV Racing also announced that Imran Safiulla had joined as a team principal. Safiulla has supported de Silvestros racing since 2006, and joins an ownership group that includes Kevin Kalkhoven and former champion Jimmy Vasser. "We are delighted to announce Simona to KV," said Vasser. "She has shown a lot of determination and to now be able to work with someone as experienced as Kanaan will be a huge asset for her." KV expects to test with de Silvestro at Texas and Sebring before the end of the year. The team is trying to rebound from a disappointing 2012 in which it failed to live up to expectations after signing former Formula One star Rubens Barrichello during the off-season. Kanaan had three podium finishes all season, although one was a third-place finish in the Indianapolis 500, and Barrichello had a season-high finish of fourth at Sonoma. Neither Barrichello or E.J. Viso are returning to the team next season, and there had been speculation that KV Racing would be a one-car organization in 2013.
